Fit Friday-cardio and weights HIIT workout

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you had a great week, but if you didn’t,  I hope the weekend helps you forget about it. My husband and I are moving into our first house tomorrow. I’m as anxious as I am excited!

This morning, in the midst of packing, I wanted to get in a quick, yet efficient workout. I love high intensity workouts  because you can get so much out of 30 minutes (which is exactly how long I worked out this morning).

This workout requires a cardio machine  (I used a treadmill) and a set of hand weights/dumbells.

Warmup for at least 5 minutes before you start!

The workout:

  • One mile run (I did a build from an easy jog to a steady run)
  • Next do 10 rounds of the following: one minute sprint, one minute weighted exercise off of treadmill

Here are the exercises I did:

  1. Curl press
  2. Lunges
  3. Plank
  4. Back rows
  5. Arnold press
  6. Push ups
  7. Mountain climbers
  8. Squat with a front kick
  9. Db bench on floor
  10. Calf raises

Make sure you take a few minutes to cool down!

*please note that I am not a personal trainer. Be careful with hiit workouts and always listen to your body. I only post workouts that work for me, and what I feel comfortable doing.
On that note, I need to get some rest before our big day tomorrow! Have a great weekend and enjoy the workout!

Incline Treadmill Workout

Good morning and happy Monday!! I feel more rested today than I did all weekend. We worked on our new house non stop Friday to Sunday. I was terribly sick most of last week so I wasn’t able to work out like I typically do. This morning I needed to sweat. We have a treadmill at our apartment which is more convenient than going to the gym every day, so I did an incline workout that left me breathless. It felt so good. I knew I wanted to share this one with you all.

  • Do at least a 5 min warmup (jog, lunges, squats, jumping jacks, etc)
  • Run a mile at a steady pace
  • After your mile, turn the incline all the way up (or as high as you can safely handle)
  • Jog or run .10 of a mile,  walk .10 of a mile, then turn the incline down and repeat until your incline reaches 1 or 2
  • Cool down

This was a fun, but very hard workout for me. I have always struggled running hills, but that makes it even more motivating! Make sure to only do the incline and speeds that you feel comfortable doing!

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did! It was a great way to start my Monday!! Stay motivated!

With love,

Treadmill/weights curcuit workout

Hi everyone! I hope your Tuesday is going as well as any Tuesday could go. My husband and I just got home from a short get-away in Cleveland to see our annual Cavs game.

Let me tell you, we ate like crap last night. We enjoyed tacos and margaritas before the game, then once we got to the game I had to have the biggest size of peanuts they had. I knew this morning I needed to get a workout in to sweat out some of the food and alcohol from last night. Luckily, the hotel we stayed at had a pretty nice workout room.

I love when the weights are directly next to the treadmills. It makes it SO much easier to do this quick, but sweaty circuit workout.

The workout:

  • 5-10 minute jog ( I went until I hit a mile)

The circuit:

  • 1 minute jog
  • 1 minute sprint
  • 1 minute walk
  • 1 minute upper body work (off of the treadmill with weights)
  • 1 minute lower body work (off of the treadmill with weights)

Repeat the circuit 5 times, then do about a 5 minute cool down plus stretch.

Some example upper body exercises include: Curl press, push press, chest press (on floor or bench), push ups on weights, back rows, upright rows, etc.

Some example lower body exercises include: Squats, calf raises, lunges, lunge jumps, squat pulses, etc.

The best thing about this workout is the fact that you can get creative and have some fun with it!

After my workout and shower, we had the continental breakfast they offered, then walked to a cute coffee shop I had never been to! I had to step out of my comfort zone to switch it up from going to Starbucks. We ended our trip by driving to a Metropark to walk around and enjoy the water.

Now that we are home it is time to catch up on house work. I hope you guys try the treadmill/weights circuit and enjoy getting super sweaty!

Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your week!

With love,

Carly

Fit Friday-30 min sweaty treadmill workout

Hi guys!

I wanted to share my favorite, go to treadmill workout. Let me start by saying that  I usually  can’t stand the treadmill. I get bored so easily! This workout, however, helps me beat boredom, makes me super sweaty, and it is quick! Win-win right there!

First I do a 5 minute build, starting with an easy jog and building every minute until I’m at a comfortable run. Once I hit the 5 minute mark, I run steady until I hit a mile. Then I take about a 2 minute walk until I get into my circuit.

Next, I do 6 rounds of a one minute jog, one minute sprint all out, then a one minute recovery. That typically takes me to about three miles and 30 minutes! Sometimes I add in hill sprints if I’m feeling crazy.

This workout can be tailored to any fitness abilities. You can break it into 30 second intervals or you can speed walk instead of run. Whatever works for you!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

With love,

Carly
