Postpartum Fitness, Motivation, And A Feature

Hello and happy hump day, all! It’s a rainy day here and the baby is napping, so I thought it was a perfect time for a post.

Fitness has always been a priority in my life, but I am used to having all the time in the world to take classes, write up workouts, and go to the gym as I please. These days it is much harder, as my number one priority is my little girl. I do, however, find the time to stay active, weather that be between naps, while she plays, or when I have someone to watch her for a while.

I thought today I would share some things that motivate me, in hopes to motivate others.

1) My Daughter

I stay healthy for her. I stay active not only to keep up with her, but also to instill a love of health within her.

2) Myself

Fitness has always been important to me, and helps relive stress and anxiety. Now that I have my daughter, it is important to find time for myself. I am a better mommy to her when I take care of my body.

1) First off, I had to ease back into working out after my daughter was born. I started out walking, then did barre workouts.

Once I felt 100 percent, I moved on to more intense workouts.

2) I love to take classes at the gym (spinning, lifting, yoga, etc.)

3) Running-hiit style treadmill workouts (I also do this on the elliptical at home).

4) Babywearing workouts (These were amazing when my little one was colicky)

5) Fitness Bloggers

I started this blog because I was inspired by other fitness bloggers. What a great community to learn from each other.

I want to feature a blog that I recently started following….

Cooper is a former college athlete (like myself) who shares a passion for health and fitness.

His blog includes workouts (which is awesome for me since I don’t always have time to write my own), nutrition and fitness information, videos (super helpful to actually see the excercises in proper form), supplements, and a podcast (which I started yesterday)!

Check him out here…

I did this workout yesterday and my abs are paying for it…

I hope to try this workout with my sister-in-law this week! She is living here for the summer. HIIT style workouts are my favorite.

I hope to feature more in the future! Please share your favorite fitness bloggers or workouts with me in the comments!

Stay inspired, friends!

Fit Friday-Mom Edition 2

Happy Friday, all! I hope the week treated you well. I’m recovering from a cold, but am finally on the mend. The little one slept through the night for the first time ever last night and this mamma was SO happy!!

Ahhhh my sweet girl.

Trying to stay fit and healthy as a new mamma isn’t easy. Between breastfeeding hunger and lack of sleep it isn’t always easy staying motivated, but I sure am doing my best.

My mom has been super helpful this week! She has helped take care of miss K while I get out and go to the gym or grocery shop.

I took my first PP spin class this week and felt amazing!

My mom and I also took my little on a long stroller walk. She slept most of the time, but I snapped this the few seconds she had her eyes open lol!

Today, I did the treadmill, stair climber, and elliptical (totaling 30 minutes).

I also did a baby wearing workout and a barre workout at home.

Stir fry over brown rice.

Tons of salads….

Peanut butter and banana protein shake.

That’s just a few of the many things I eat!

I hope you enjoyed this little update.

Until next time…..

Have a great weekend!

Fit Friday: Mom Edition

Hey there, everyone! Happy Friday!! My baby girl will be one month old tomorrow and I can’t believe how much she has changed already. She is more aware and I love reading and singing to her. Her eyes get so big and she is so perfect!

We have had a hard couple of days, as she cries often and wants to nurse constantly. I think she is going through a growth spurt!

As far as staying fit I am doing a pretty good job considering the lack of sleep.

I have been doing my best to eat healthy, and add in extra snacks throughout the day because breastfeeding makes you hungrier.

What I’ve been eating….

Salmon, mushrooms, and onions.

The most delicious salad from Northstar Cafe.

Buffalo ranch chicken (made in the crockpot) and veggies.

Frozen garlic chicken and pasta meal.

As far as snacks go, I have granola, nuts, fruit, healthier cookies, almond butter….

I weighed the other day and I am 6 pounds from my pre pregnancy weight.

I went to the gym for the first time in a long time and it felt amazing! I walked the treadmill, did the arc trainer, and stair climber for a total of 30 minutes.

At home, I have done the elliptical and barre classes with light weights.

I typically workout during her naps, or when my husband is home before he leaves for work. It just depends on when the little one wakes up!

My husband and I are having our first date night tonight since she has been born. We are going to dinner and then seeing Captain Marvel. I am so excited to have some time with just us, but I know I will miss her like crazy.

That’s all for today! Have a wonderful weekend!

With love,
