A Baby Filled Weekend (A 1st Birthday Party And My Baby Shower)

Hi, all! Sunday is winding down, and I am laying here with my husband. Our weekend was so nice and full of love! It was busy, so I didn’t get my typical weekend cleaning done, but I have some time over Thanksgiving week to do that.

Let’s recap the weekend!

SATURDAY:

The day started early with online teaching. After teaching, I did a quick pure barre video before getting ready for the day.

My husband and I headed out late morning to go to Cincinnati to celebrate my niece’s first birthday!

When we got there, they had a taco bar for lunch.

It was yummy!

The birthday girl opened presents and gobbled down her cake. We also watched football and just enjoyed the day with my family!

By the time we got home, we didn’t want to cook so we picked up Jersey Mikes subs for dinner.

We ate and watched TV until bed.

SUNDAY:

My mom came over early and we went to church together. It was so nice. After church, we picked up smoothies before heading back to my place.

I had a hair appointment (which ended up being a slight fiasco). Insted of checking me in when I got there, they canceled my appointment. By the time it was all figured out, we started super late, and I didn’t have time to get my hair washed. She curled it quickly! Luckily, they didn’t charge me.

I hurried home, changed, then headed to my baby shower.

Our Chicago Getaway

Hello, everyone! I hope you are having a lovely weekend. We are driving home from our mini vacation to Chicago. It was a blast! It was a perfect way to celebrate Brad’s 30th birthday, our anniversary, and our “babymoon.” Let’s jump right in…

FRIDAY:

We left home around 8am and made the 6 hour drive to Chicago. We arrived at our Airbnb around 2:30 ish, unpacked and settled in.

We changed, called an uber, then headed into the city.

Our first stop was the bean to get some pictures!

It started getting a little dark, so we walked over to the Chicago theater to see it all lit up. It was so pretty!!

The evening was absolutely freezing, so we decided on an early dinner at Giordano’s! We got salads and pizzas. Everything was super yummy!

After dinner, we ubered back to our Airbnb, watched a movie, then crashed hard!

SATURDAY:

I woke up before my husband, so I did a short pregnancy workout video. When he woke up, we walked (in the 19 degree weather) to Starbucks for coffee and breakfast.

After breakfast, we got ready for the day and ubered into the city. We walked around until it was time for our first activity!

At noon, we did the Chicago Theater Tour and it was absolutely fantastic! We loved learning the history and not to mention, I adore the theater!

I was like a kid in a candy store Haha!

After the tour, we stopped at a food truck for lunch and ate in the sunshine. Chicago style hot dogs are no joke! YUM!!!

After lunch, we headed to the field museum. It was huge and there was so much to see! We loved the dinosaur exhibit, and also ancient Egypt.

After the museum, we walked a bunch more and saw the bean at night, along with other cool parts of the city.

Our next stop was the John Hancock building! We did Chicago 360, which takes you super high to see some beautiful views. I’m so glad we went at night! There was a wait for this and I was getting nauseous, but felt better once we got to the top.

Afterwards, we were both wiped out from walking all day so we headed to dinner at Gino’s East. I needed water and to just sit. It felt amazing to relax. I wasn’t in the mood for pizza again so I got minestrone soup and a delicious salad with grilled chicken, candied walnuts, cranberries, radishes, cheese chunks, and their delicious house dressing.

After dinner, we ubered back to the Airbnb and both crashed quickly. My total steps on my Fitbit was almost 25,000 for the day! Crazy!!

SUNDAY:

This morning, we packed up early, grabbed Starbucks, and started the trip home. I can’t wait to see my kitties!!

Food, Fitness, Pregnancy, And Our Anniversary

Hello, all! Yesterday marked 24 weeks in my pregnancy. I can’t believe on Thanksgiving day I will officially be in the 3rd trimester. Ahhh!!!

I am starting to get some bad pains in my back and exhaustion is no joke. Not to mention the bladder that ALWAYS feels full! Lol!!! BUT….I love feeling my little bean kicking and seeing my belly grow. Pregnancy really is amazing.

I had a really great week of food and fitness, so here is the recap…

MONDAY:

The day started with an upper body workout class at my gym. It is hard to get motivated to take classes, but I am always happy when I go.

Dinner was chicken legs in the air fryer! If you don’t have an air fryer, they are awesome. Food cooks so fast and is always delicious. We also had asparagus and some chips.

TUESDAY:

The weather was so nice so I went for a jog after work. The pressure on my bladder is pretty bad at this point, so I only did a mile. I also did some other cardio exercises after the jog.

Dinner was pasta with ground turkey. YUMMMM!!!

WEDNESDAY:

Not only was it Halloween, but it was our 3 year wedding anniversary! Just a couple favorites from our wedding!

After work, I did a short barre workout before my husband came home early from work. We exchanged gifts before heading out to dinner. My pretty flowers!

We went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner and enjoyed spending the evening chatting.

I love their bread.

I had shrimp tacos.

After dinner, we came home and watched Netflix until bed.

THURSDAY:

The day started with a spin class. I haven’t been to one in so long and only stayed half the class, but it felt so good!!

Dinner was leftovers thrown together because I worked late and wanted something easy when I got home.

I ate while watching This Is Us.

FRIDAY:

The day started with a gluteus maxout class at my gym. It felt great, especially since I haven’t taken this class in so long.

I grabbed Starbucks and they have their holiday cups out now! Yay! So festive.

After work, my husband and I going to make pizzas and just relax. My nephew is coming tomorrow and spending the night! I can’t wait to see him.

Thursday Thoughts-Another Year Older And My Goals

Hello, everyone! I am officially on spring break from work and I am SO happy about it! We leave for Nashville tomorrow to visit my cousin and kick off break. Whooo!!!

After work today, a few co-workers and I went to a wine tasting, and my work bestie asked me what my goals were for this next year of my life. It is crazy to think that next year I will be 30. Wasn’t I just 16 and driving for the first time?!

I have been doing a lot of reflecting lately, and here are my goals for this next year of my life:

1) Take More Risks- I have always stayed within my comfort zone, but I am learning that good things come to risk takers. I took a risk on a part time online teaching job and got it, so I would like to keep this going with my full time career.

2) Be Patient With Pregnacy- My pregnancy journey hasn’t been as easy as I thought it would be, but I trust in God’s timing.

3) Continue To Work On Body Positivity-This is something I have struggled with for many years. It’s not always easy, but I want to love every bit of myself.

4) Pray More-I have finally found a church that I love, but I want to spend more time praying and doing devotions.

5) Make New Recipes-I have always loved cooking, but I want to get back into making new recipes of my own.

6) Coninue Setting Goals For MyselfI hope to make new goals throughout the year.

Wedding Pictures

Hello, everyone! Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you love birds. I know this holiday can be a little cliche, but I don’t care because I love opportunities to make my husband feel extra special.

In honor of love, I thought I’d share some of our wedding pictures since I didn’t have a blog at that time.
