Holiday Baking And Christmas At Home

Hello, hello! I hope the Holiday season is treating you well. Things have been non-stop around here, and are just settling down. Christmas this year was wonderful for our family. I love being home and having no place to travel. Doing our best to stay covid safe, we saw immediate family only. I definitely missed seeing extended family this year, but feel like we made the right decision.

I wanted to highlight some baking, and Christmas fun from the past week! Let’s start back at Wednesday….

WEDNESDAY: I got to spend some time with one of my very best friends. We had wine flights at Coopershawk and enjoyed catching up! Neither of us have been out much lately, so it was fun to safely see her!

Coopershawk has the BEST wine selection! I always get the fruit ones.

THURSDAY- CHRISTMAS EVE: We always do our stockings on Christmas Eve morning! It is a fun tradition for us.

My sister-in-law lives in town and spent the afternoon with us. We did some baking (all using healthier ingredients)! It was so fun!

Cranberry orange muffins.
Banana bread.

Sugar cookies!

Homemade cinnamon rolls using almond flour! These were amazing!!!!! We even made our own frosting. 10/10 for me.

After all of our baking and getting K down for bed, we ordered Chinese food and watched a movie.

FRIDAY- CHRISTMAS DAY:

My Christmas excitement woke me up early so I made coffee and did a quick workout before everyone was up.

We relaxed until my husband’s family came over! My mom joined a little while later. We had a wonderful time opening gifts, eating and just hanging out.

K playing with sone fun gym items from my mom! Such a great way to get her energy out!
PJ’s all day!

We all watched a movie and played games that evening.

It was a wonderful Christmas!

I am looking forward to catching up with all of you.

Have a great week!

With love,

Carly

Christmas Decorating In Our New Home

Hello, everyone! My goodness it has been far too long. Things have been a whirlwind since we moved into our new home. My free time has been spent organizing, unpacking boxes, teaching online, keeping up with my toddler, and trying to get rest.

Things are settling a bit, and I adore our home. My little has room to run and loves her playroom. I love the openness of everything!

The day after Thanksgiving, we put on Christmas music and decorated. It was so much fun! K was dancing and laughing. In the midst of the hardships of 2020, this moment brought me pure joy.

We bought a new tree and stockings this year!
I want to add garland, but I do love the flowers on our new table!
We have more to do outside, but it’s a start!
My biggest blessing!

I hope you all are staying healthy and happy! I look forward to catching up.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

With love,

Carly

Christmas Celebrations, RSV, And Hospital Stays

Hello, all! Unfortunately, I am writing this from my daughter’s hospital room as she naps on her daddy. Our little one’s first Christmas was not exactly what we pictured. Before we get to the sad story, I want to share all the fun things we did.

The Saturday before Christmas, we went to my husband’s home town to celebrate. Baby K had SO much fun with the other kids.

Santa came and gave presents to the little ones.

Baby went to bed after Santa, and we hung out with everyone downstairs! We had to share a room with her which woke her up when we went to bed. She wanted to cuddle haha!

That Sunday, the boys went to shoot guns, and the girls hung at the house. It was a fun weekend!

CHRISTMAS EVE:

The day started great, and we opened our stockings. This is a tradition that my husband and I have had for years.

I was able to get a quick workout in before we headed to my hometown to celebrate with my family. We ate pizza, and baby K got to see all of her cousins. We had a blast!

When we got home, we noticed she was a little congested, so we gave her a bath with baby safe oils, and used the humidifier in her room.

About an hour after putting her to bed, she was crying a lot, so my husband got her up to check on her. She vomited everywhere (including all over grandma). We held her for a long time before putting her back in her room. We barely slept, so we stayed up watching IT Chapter 2. What a Christmas movie, right?

CHRISTMAS DAY:

Baby K seemed to feel better, so we played and opened presents.

I made a super yummy casserole for breakfast! I made two different versions side by side (mine is on the right with more veggies and sweet potatoes, while the left side had sausage and white potatoes).

Once the baby got up from nap she didn’t want to eat or play, and was pretty lethargic. She had a high fever and ended up spending most of the day napping on me. My husband’s family came over, but baby K wasn’t interested in opening presents because she felt so bad.

We gave her a bath before bed. She had a rough night full of crying and coughing.

THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS:

I called the pediatrician and got her an appointment for that morning. He diagnosed her with pneumonia, and sent us home with antibiotics. She had one dose before a nap. It was lasting a long time so I tried to wake her up, but she was not very responsive. It was a warm day, so I took her outside to see daddy and she threw up.

We brought her inside to clean her up when I noticed that her chest was retracting. We immediately took her to the ER.

They got us in quickly, and her oxygen levels were low. She was dehydrated and still so out of it. I was absolutely terrified. I am so thankful for my husband who always stays calm in these hard situations.

They gave her IV fluids and antibiotics, did a chest x-ray and blood work. They decided to transfer her to the Children’s hospital by ambulance (I got to ride with her, and my husband drove our car).

She was admitted, but the process took a long time, and we didn’t get into the room until well after midnight.

Baby slept so well, and knowing she was getting the care she needed eased my mind so much. The extremely stiff couch in the room was pretty awful, so my husband and I didn’t sleep much.

TODAY:

Baby woke up and actually wanted to eat!

She is still on oxygen and IV fluids and we will be here at least one more night. She has been sleeping a lot of the day, and is working to fight off her illness. I’m ready to have my spunky, healthy, silly baby back.

Please keep her in your prayers.

With love,

Carly

Christmas Celebrations And A Life Catch Up

Hello, all! If you celebrated, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! We sure did. I haven’t updated since last week, so it’s time for a little life catch-up from the past weekend through Christmas day.

FRIDAY:

After work, my husband and I headed to his work Christmas party. We went bowling and they catered in City Bbq for dinner! We had a lot of fun hanging out with everyone!

We got home late and crashed.

SATURDAY:

I taught online before we spent the day cleaning. We decided to grab Chipotle for dinner and ate while we watched the movie Peppermint. It was awesome by the way!

Just a random Saturday photo of us haha!

SUNDAY:

I went to the gym for a quick cardio workout before my mom and brother came over. My mom and I grabbed lunch and did some shopping!

I love Whole Foods!

After they left, we finished Christmas shopping (last minute, I know)!

We cuddled with the cats and relaxed when we got home.

MONDAY (CHRISTMAS EVE):

We woke up, had some coffee, then opened our stockings to each other!

I was so surprised by the prenatal massage gift certificate! Plus, my FAVORITE almond butter! My husband did great.

I did a barre workout before getting ready to head to my in-laws!

When we got to my husband’s hometown, we ate dinner, went to church, then came back to his parents. Once we were there, the siblings exchanged our secret Santa gifts (my brother in law got me an Alexa)!

After presents, we got in pjs and watched a movie!

TUESDAY (CHRISTMAS DAY):

We woke up, had coffee, ate, then started on presents. My in-laws go ALL OUT and it takes us almost 3 hours to open because we go one at a time.

I got tons of fun things for me and baby! We were spoiled!!! My husband got me an elliptical/bike for when baby comes and I don’t want to leave the house.

We relaxed the rest of the day before having dinner at my husband’s aunt and uncle’s house.

We got home late, unloaded the car, then went straight to bed.

I am officially on break from work, so the next week and a half will be spent preparing for baby, teaching online, and catching up on sleep!

Hope you enjoyed the update!

With love,

Carly

Weekend Wrap Up (Food, Fitness, Christmas Decorating, And a 2nd Thanksgiving)

Hello, friends! Well, now that Thanksgiving is over the countdown to Christmas has begun. I was able to get some of my shopping done (yay for online sales)!!

I feel bigger than ever due to excess amounts of food over break, along with this pregnancy.

Since I was on break, my days are slightly running together, but I’ll do my best to recap…

FRIDAY:

I woke up, had some coffee, and relaxed until I decided to venture to the gym. I did the elliptical, which was pretty much all I could handle for the day with my back pain!

I got some online shopping done and spent time doing housework, while my husband worked in the yard.

Dinner was leftovers of course!

SATURDAY:

The day started with online teaching and some coffee.

My back was hurting too bad to go out, so I did yoga at home.

I got quite a bit done on my to-do list. I organized baby presents, talked to the pediatrician, got in touch with our photographer about maternity pictures, and a few more boring, but necessary things.

The evening was filled with Christmas music and decorating with my husband! We had fun and the cats were hilarious playing with everything.

After we decorated, my husband picked up Chinese for us.

We ate while watching tv. What a nice evening!

SUNDAY:

The day started with coffee and a spin class. It felt good to do cardio, but I took it super easy!

I came home and got ready before heading to my husband’s hometown for his family Thanksgiving! He has a big family and they rent out a big space. We filled up on food, then everyone headed to the gym for basketball. I just watched because I was in pain.

Afterwards, we headed to my husband’s parents to play with the dogs and chat more before heading home.

Dinner was leftover Chinese.

That’s about it for the weekend!

Have a great week, everyone.

With love,

Carly
