Fit Friday-Summer Break Addition

Hello and happy Friday, all! How did the week treat you? Do you have any weekend plans? We have a lot to do around the house, but it will be nice to get so much taken care of. Tonight, we are going to dinner with some friends at a place called Oak Hill Bbq. Think hole in the wall with AMAZING food. I’m so excited.

Anyway, this past week has been my first full week of summer break. It has been wonderful! I am still teaching online, but I finish my classes by 8:30 am each day.

Let’s recap, shall we?

MONDAY:

I woke up and taught 3 classes before heading to the gym. I took a gluteus maxout class and decided to do lighter weight and focus on form. I’m so glad I did this!

After the gym, I met a girlfriend for lunch at Northstar Cafe. Their food is fresh and SO tasty!

We had been waiting about 10-15 minutes before the waiter apologized that is was taking so long. Our next meals are free! I wasn’t even worried about the wait at all (our food came out right after), but I won’t turn down free food! Haha!

After lunch, I took a nap before prepping my classes for the next day.

The hubs and I had stir fry for dinner while watching the Bachelorette.

TUESDAY:

I woke up, taught my classes, then went to the gym for a new class called upper body extreme. It was a really good workout and I will take it again!

I also stayed after for yoga. I needed it!

After the gym, I came home, cleaned a bit, had some lunch, and took a nap.

Later, I did some organizing and just hung out until my husband came home.

Dinner was pasta! I added veggie sausage, but hated it, so I took it off and just enjoyed my pasta with parmesan.

We watched TV until bed.

WEDNESDAY:

I woke up early and went to the gym for some cardio. I did 10 minutes on the stair climber, a mile jog, then 10 minutes on the arc trainer.

After the gym, I got ready, taught one class, then headed to my hometown to visit my best friend! She is due with twins this month!

We went to Starbucks, then had lunch at Potbelly! Afterwards, we hung out at her house with her two little ones, her mom, and brother. It was so nice!

I headed home mid day and was so tired, that I had a nap. Seriously I NEVER nap. What is wrong with me?! I also tried on my new nighty haha!

I did a closet purge until my husband came home. We had salmon, air fried veggies, and watermelon for dinner.

My husband spent time playing video games, so I watched some old episodes of American Horror Story until bed.

THURSDAY:

I woke up, taught 3 classes, then headed to the gym. I took a spin class, but only stayed 30 minutes. I am working on listening to my body and stopping when I need to.

I grabbed a smoothie before heading home.

Once I got home, I showered and watched some TV before my husband called to meet him for lunch. I love mid-day dates! We met at Chipotle and I had chicken tacos.

I took a nap when I got home because I was so tired again. When I woke up, I cleaned and did some more organizing before my husband came home.

Dinner was a salad with almonds, terriaki chicken, plantain, and leftover pasta.

We caught up on Masterchef before bed.

FRIDAY:

I woke up this morning and taught two classes. The kids we great and super respectful, which makes my job so easy! I had a keto coffee while I prepared!

After teaching, I went to a barbell strength class at the gym. I used light weights and worked on form. It felt good!

I have a chiropractor appointment later and need to clean some!

Fit Friday-My Week In Food, Fitness, And A Few Tears

Oh glorious Friday!! This week has been mentally and physically draining. Between my medication giving me side effects, pure exhaustion, and a tough work week, I am ready to relax. I need to get my mind in a better place before Monday. A bath, book, and a glass of wine will be happening soon.

My week of food and fitness has been pretty good, but not as good as usual. Oh well!

SUNDAY:

Last Sunday, I made such a tasty little dinner! It was a turkey dog with cheese wrapped in a flat-out bread. I also had some fried plantain! So easy and yummy!

MONDAY:

I started the morning with a cycle and sculp class at my gym. 35 minutes on the spin bike + 25 minutes on the floor with weights. It was intense, but felt good.

Dinner was Annie’s Mac and Cheese with crab meat and a poppyseed salad. I wanted something quick and this did the trick.

TUESDAY:

I had a rough day at work, but let me tell you it sure fueled my workout.

At the gym, I did a 30 minute hiit workout on the treadmill. It was a good one.

Dinner was an orange chicken with veggies and brown rice!

My husband and I ate while watching a movie we rented (Geostorm). I enjoyed it a lot and actually stayed awake, which never happens. Haha!

WEDNESDAY:

I woke up early for my TCX (total conditioning extreme) workout class.

I am so bummed because they are taking this class off of the schedule in a week. Ugh!!

I typically don’t share my lunches because they are boring, but this day it was so good! I had leftover orange chicken, so I put it with a poppyseed salad, rice, and a seed/nut mix! Filling and tasty!

Dinner was organic Annie’s Mac and Cheese with a turkey hot dog.

THURSDAY:

Such a long, hard day. I woke up still exhausted. I did a short yoga video to try to get myself going, but was just in a funk. Work was defeating. I cried the whole way home. After a shower and some cleaning I felt better.

Dinner was delicious! Turkey roast, potatoes and carrots!! I made a sandwich out of my turkey.

FRIDAY:

Once again, I woke up absolutely exhausted. I drank some coffee and drug myself to the gym for a gluteus maxout class. It kicked my butt, but felt awesome.

My work day was much better than yesterday, plus the weather is so nice! Now that I am home, I am writing this and having a snack.

Honey graham crackers with almond butter and dark chocolate. YUM!

My husband and I have a dinner and movie date planned for tonight and I can’t wait.

Now, off to try to take a nap so I can stay awake for a late movie!

Weekend Wrap-Up And Our Upcoming Getaway 

Hello, everyone!! I hope you all have had a great weekend. Mine had it’s ups and downs, but we will get there in a bit.

 This upcoming weekend, my husband and I are spending two nights in a cabin at Hocking Hills. Hocking is beautiful, full of hiking trails and secluded cabins. My mom booked it for us as our Christmas present and we are SO excited! Thanks, mom!!

Now onto my recap!

FRIDAY:

I rushed out of work to get home before the ice/snow storm. I was glad once I got home, and relieved when my husband got home as well. I was tired from the week so I through together a quick dinner. 

Asian salad kit with chicken sausage and coconut oil fried plantain. 

After dinner, we watched t.v. and went to bed early.

SATURDAY:

I woke up to a ton of snow! We got hit pretty hard. The news warned people to be careful if they had to go out. Once I ventured out, I went to the gym for a cardio workout

I did 10 minutes on the stair climber, a 1 mile run, 5 minutes on the stair climber, then a half mile run. It was quick, but intense!

Once I got home, we got ready to venture back out to go to my home town. Conditions were not ideal and I drove slow. Unfortunately, my uncle passed and we had his funeral. It was exhausting and sad. By the time we got back into town, we wanted an easy dinner. Chinese it was! 

They have a healthy menu that I always order from! Fresh and tasty!

We both crashed early!

SUNDAY:

I woke up early so I had coffee and spent some time reading your blogs!

 I went to hot yoga at my gym and it felt amazing! After the gym, I went to church before coming home and having lunch. 

A chicken wrap and leftovers!

My husband and I spent the rest of the day cleaning and grocery shopping! We are finally relaxing with our kitties! 

I’m off to make dinner!

This Week In Food, Fitness, And Winter Break

Hello and happy Friday, everyone! I hope your week has treated you well. My winter break is coming to an end and it is back to work on Monday. I have had a wonderful two weeks off.

Now onto my weekly recap!

MONDAY:

I woke up, had coffee, then went to the gym for a 30 minute HIIT workout on the treadmill. It was awesome.

After getting ready, my husband and I met my mom and our nephew for lunch and a movie  (we saw the new Jumanji). We had lunch at Bibibop, which is build your own Asain bowls. I had a bowl with spicy chicken, purple rice, veggies, and a side of teriyaki sauce. So good!!!

We all loved the movie and had a great time together!

After the movie, we ran some errands and picked up the house. When we were ready for dinner, we made chicken legs in the air fryer, sweet potato tots, and a salad!


TUESDAY:

I decided to take a class late morning at my gym called no limits circuit. It was so fun trying something new! It mixes lifting and cardio, leaving me sore for days after! 

I had lunch at my gym cafe.

Grilled chicken salad and a cocoa matcha smoothie.

After lunch, I ran to the grocery store and did a few things around the house. For dinner, I made tacos and air fried plantain. It was excellent! 


WEDNESDAY:

I woke up and had coffee with my husband. Once he left for work, I made protein pancakes for breakfast. 

Kodiak Cakes pancake mix, chocolate peanut butter protein powder and dark chocolate chips. YUM!!! 

After breakfast, I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the stair climber. So. Much. Sweat.

Once I finished up at the gym and got ready, it was a day full of family! I met up with my mom before having lunch with my oldest brother and his 3 kiddos. We ate at Roosters and took time to catch up.

After lunch, we headed to my mom’s place before meeting up with my other brother and his little family. My niece is growing so fast! I didn’t want to leave. 

After seeing them, my mom and I picked up dinner at a place called Crazy Wraps and Bowls. We ate dinner and rented a movie at her place! It was nice to relax after a full day of driving!


THURSDAY:

My mom and I woke up early and went to Starbucks. After coffee and breakfast, we headed to her gym. I took a spin class and loved it! The instructor was energetic and class was killer.

After the gym, we had a short visit with my sister in law and niece before I had to drive home.

My mom and I ate lunch at Subway, then it was back home for me. I was exhausted by the time I got back so I took a long nap. 

For dinner I had a taco salad and toast.  

I also added crushed up tortillas on top! 

My husband and I rented a movie before bed.

FRIDAY:

I woke up early and met my work bestie for Starbucks! 

After coffee and a little cleaning, I went to the gym and did a leg workout. I can already tell I will be sore tomorrow. 

We are having friends over for dinner tonight and I am so excited! 

Now it is off to fold laundry…

C9 Challenge Inspired Workout 

Good morning and happy hump day, friends! If I am being honest, I am absolutely exhausted and already wishing it was the weekend. How has your week been?! 

I typically take a workout class on Monday evenings called the C9 challenge, but due to my cat having a vet appointment I wasnt able to go. I love the layout of the class and decided to make my own that morning. 

Here is the C9 layout:

Warmup  (5 to 10 minutes)

1 min of an upper body excercise, 1 min lower body, 1 min of abs. Repeat that 3 times. After your third round you do 1 min of a cardio excercise. 

Then you do the same layout (upper, lower, abs x3, then cardio) 2 more times. 

Cool down!

It is a killer good workout! Below is mine! I used dumbells and barbells.

  • 1 min bicept curls-x’s 3
  • 1 min alternating lunges-x’s 3
  • 1 min bench pikes-x’s 3
  • 1 min star jumps

1 min rest

  • 1 min incline chest press-x’s 3
  • 1 min squat pulses-x’s 3
  • 1 min plank dips-x’s 3
  • 1 min squat jumps

1 min rest 

  • 1 min shoulder raises-x’s 3
  • 1 min calf raises-x’s 3
  • 1 min plank-x’s 3
  • 1 min bench jumps or burpees

Cool down!

Yesterday morning, I went for a run around my neighborhood before a long day at work. That evening, we celebrated a friend’s birthday at a place called Chuy’s. It is tex mex food and boy was it awesome. I wanted to stay as healthy as possible so I ordered chicken fajitas (and didn’t eat the tortillas, rice, or sour cream). It also came with beans, guacamole and tomatoes. 

YUM!!

I am looking forward to eating my leftovers for lunch today!
