Fit Friday-This Week In Food, Fitness, Motherhood, Sun, and Snow

Hello and happy Friday, all! The house is picked up, the baby is sleeping, and this mamma is under a blanket because it is so cold out! We woke up to snow. We decided to go out and play in our pjs for a little because the baby hasn’t really had a chance to experience it.

She was wiggling so much when she saw it falling down! The weather has been crazy. It was warm on Monday and I was outside in a tank top. Haha!

Let’s talk FITNESS:

I have done a good variety of workouts this week. I have to mix it up to keep from getting bored!

MONDAY: Baby K and I got out for a 3 mile run. The weather was beautiful!! We stopped at the swings on the way home.

TUESDAY: Barre workout video.

WEDNESDAY: 30 minutes on the elliptical

THURSDAY: I took a cycle sculpt class at the gym. It is spinning with light weights incorporated.

FRIDAY: This morning I did a hiit workout video.

FOOD FAVORITES:

Taco salad with coconut oil fried plantains. SO good!

Crockpot buffalo chicken sandwiches! This was delicious and so easy to make!

Chicken legs made in the air fryer with corn.

Whole Foods salad bar!

A Fit Mamma And Baby Update

Hello, and happy Friday everyone!

Each day is another day closer to baby K turing one year old. I cannot believe how fast it has gone. She is the absolute best kid ever! She loves making silly faces, eats everything, gives hugs and kisses, sleeps well, enjoys all the kids in Bugs class, and continues to melt our hearts daily. She is super chatty and loves to say “dad.” She has 3 teeth and tries to bite everything. Haha. She is so loved!

FITNESS UPDATE:

I try to get to the gym some mornings, weekends, and anytime that my mom visits. This week (and past weekend) I have gone to spinning, taken a lifting class, and did a hiit treadmill workout at the gym.

At home, I did barre, the elliptical, and yoga.

Working out has always been such a great outlet for me, but it is important to take a day off to rest as well. Each Sunday I let my body recover.

FOOD UPDATE:

I haven’t posted in a while, so going back to last weekend…

On Saturday, my little family went to brunch at Northstar Cafe. It was so fun, and baby K was such a ham with all of the people. I had a ham and cheese scone, eggs, and a shooting star juice. Baby K had eggs and a few bites of my scone (which she loved and made her dance) hahaha. My husband had biscuits and gravy! Yum!!

On Sunday, I had brunch with some girlfriends at 101 Beer Kitchen, and oh my gosh my food was amazing. I had avacado toast with a beet spread, poached eggs, and balsamic.

As far as dinners go this week, we have had chicken, pasta, and stuffed peppers.

Wednesday evening, I went to dinner with a mom from Bugs class. We went to Northstar Cafe, and I got the thai burrito with broccoli and peanut sauce. It was amazing!

This was our first time hanging out outside of Bugs, and we had such a fun time. We talked for 2 hours, and probably could have stayed longer! It isn’t always easy making friends as an adult, but I am so glad I branched out!

OTHER:

This weekend will be full of family time and cleaning!

That’s all for this update! I hope you all have a great weekend.

With love,

Carly

Christmas Celebrations, RSV, And Hospital Stays

Hello, all! Unfortunately, I am writing this from my daughter’s hospital room as she naps on her daddy. Our little one’s first Christmas was not exactly what we pictured. Before we get to the sad story, I want to share all the fun things we did.

The Saturday before Christmas, we went to my husband’s home town to celebrate. Baby K had SO much fun with the other kids.

Santa came and gave presents to the little ones.

Baby went to bed after Santa, and we hung out with everyone downstairs! We had to share a room with her which woke her up when we went to bed. She wanted to cuddle haha!

That Sunday, the boys went to shoot guns, and the girls hung at the house. It was a fun weekend!

CHRISTMAS EVE:

The day started great, and we opened our stockings. This is a tradition that my husband and I have had for years.

I was able to get a quick workout in before we headed to my hometown to celebrate with my family. We ate pizza, and baby K got to see all of her cousins. We had a blast!

When we got home, we noticed she was a little congested, so we gave her a bath with baby safe oils, and used the humidifier in her room.

About an hour after putting her to bed, she was crying a lot, so my husband got her up to check on her. She vomited everywhere (including all over grandma). We held her for a long time before putting her back in her room. We barely slept, so we stayed up watching IT Chapter 2. What a Christmas movie, right?

CHRISTMAS DAY:

Baby K seemed to feel better, so we played and opened presents.

I made a super yummy casserole for breakfast! I made two different versions side by side (mine is on the right with more veggies and sweet potatoes, while the left side had sausage and white potatoes).

Once the baby got up from nap she didn’t want to eat or play, and was pretty lethargic. She had a high fever and ended up spending most of the day napping on me. My husband’s family came over, but baby K wasn’t interested in opening presents because she felt so bad.

We gave her a bath before bed. She had a rough night full of crying and coughing.

THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS:

I called the pediatrician and got her an appointment for that morning. He diagnosed her with pneumonia, and sent us home with antibiotics. She had one dose before a nap. It was lasting a long time so I tried to wake her up, but she was not very responsive. It was a warm day, so I took her outside to see daddy and she threw up.

We brought her inside to clean her up when I noticed that her chest was retracting. We immediately took her to the ER.

They got us in quickly, and her oxygen levels were low. She was dehydrated and still so out of it. I was absolutely terrified. I am so thankful for my husband who always stays calm in these hard situations.

They gave her IV fluids and antibiotics, did a chest x-ray and blood work. They decided to transfer her to the Children’s hospital by ambulance (I got to ride with her, and my husband drove our car).

She was admitted, but the process took a long time, and we didn’t get into the room until well after midnight.

Baby slept so well, and knowing she was getting the care she needed eased my mind so much. The extremely stiff couch in the room was pretty awful, so my husband and I didn’t sleep much.

TODAY:

Baby woke up and actually wanted to eat!

She is still on oxygen and IV fluids and we will be here at least one more night. She has been sleeping a lot of the day, and is working to fight off her illness. I’m ready to have my spunky, healthy, silly baby back.

Please keep her in your prayers.

With love,

Carly

A Life Update (Motherhood, Sickness, Teething, Food, And Fitness)

Hello, all! I am currently sitting here watching TV, and beyond ready for my husband to be home. He has been gone all weekend at a wedding, and I’m not expecting him home until around 1am. The baby and I stayed home because it would have been way too much travel for her in just a couple days.

Anyway, when I last wrote, I was getting over a terrible stomach bug. Unfortunately, my husband got it, too. He woke me up super early Tuesday morning saying he was up most of the night feeling queasy. He threw up right after that. I felt so bad because he got it from me. He stayed home from work for two days. I cleaned and disinfected like crazy when he felt better. Luckily, the baby didn’t get it!

The baby and I still had some fun though!

She LOVES gym class!! The Little Gym Of Polaris has been a saving grace for me. Baby K is making friends (so am I), developing new skills, and has so much fun every week.

This sweet kid had her 9 month appointment, and took her shots like a champ! She only screamed for a little bit.

Let’s talk teething…

Ugh, it is awful. She has had a couple nights where she struggled to go down because she was screaming. I have found that teething oil (benzocaine free), tylenol (when necessary), and lots of things to chew on help!

Now, onto food…

I didn’t cook much during the week since my husband was sick and I just threw stuff together for myself. We had pasta on Monday (before he got the bug). Mine had chickpea noodles with a meat sauce.

My mom spent yesterday and a good portion of today with me! It was so nice and extremely helpful!! Love you, mom! We had Jersey Mike’s and rented a movie last night!

After getting the baby down, I made a cauliflower crust pizza and salad for tonight’s dinner! Yum!

Fitness this week:

*Elliptical

*Barre

*Hiit workout video

*Cycle Sculpt class at the gym

*Upper Body Extreme class at the Gym

Well, that’s about all for this update! The rest of my evening will be spent snuggling the cats, watching the baby monitor, enjoying some TV, and waiting on the hubs!

I’m looking forward to catching up on all of your posts during the baby K’s nap tomorrow!

Have a great week ahead, all!

With love,

Carly

Diary Of A Sick Mamma

Hello, all! I am currently laying in bed, snuggled up to my little kitty, watching TV and recovering from getting terribly sick yesterday.

It started as a normal Saturday, with coffee and family time. I went to the gym for an upper body workout class, feeling fine the whole time.

I got home and cleaned the house while the baby napped. I felt a little flushed, but thought I was just hot from the cleaning. I took a quick shower, then got the baby up and started feeding her a bottle.

That is when things took a turn for the worse. I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, so I yelled for my husband to take the baby and get me a bucket. He put the baby in her bouncer, then grabbed me the Halloween candy bucket just in time for me to lose my lunch. It scared baby K and she cried so much. My husband took her to another room and kept saying, “mommy is okay.” I made it into the bathroom and puked at least 10 more times. I could hear the baby cry every time I did, and it broke my heart.

My husband took over everything; cleaning up after me, playing with the baby, then getting her to bed.

Meanwhile, I slept on the bathroom floor until I knew I was done throwing up. I had a temp of 101, and was freezing.

I was able to drink a little water and have a few pretzels before bed.

SUNDAY:

I woke up feeling better, but nauseous. I was hungry, so I ate and drank water. I had to be back on mom duty, but this sweet face made me so happy.

I am just praying the baby and my husband don’t get this! I washed and disinfected everything I touched yesterday. The rest of my evening will be spent taking it easy until bedtime!

Have a wonderful week ahead, everyone!

With love,

Carly
