Our First Vacation With Baby

Hello, all!! We are finally home and settling back into our routine from vacation. We actually got home Saturday evening, but between unpacking, loads of laundry, cleaning the house, and moving baby to her room, things have been crazy.

We spent a little over a week at the lake with my husband’s family. Here is the recap:

PACKING:

Oh my gosh, packing for baby K was so stressful. Our car was completely full! She needs SO much stuff!! It helped making a list. 3 adults, one child, and a BUNCH of stuff. Yikes!! We made it work though.

THE DRIVE:

Baby K did great overall! Minimal crying/screaming, lots of staring at trees. She barely slept on the way there, but napped more on the way home.

The drive was around 5 hours, and we stopped a few times to feed and change her.

THE CABIN AND SLEEP:

The cabins are small, but we did have our own room. We put the pack and play by our bed, and baby slept in the doc a tot inside of it (which she is now officially out of since we’ve been home).

There is no air conditioning in the cabins, so we used fans. I was super worried about the baby, but we had the fan directly on her at night. She slept amazing the whole week!! Being outside made her tired, and she napped well and slept through each night. Around 6:15pm-6/7 am!

FUN:

Making new family memories was a blast. Taking baby on her first boat ride and seeing her in the lake brought so much joy to our hearts.

With SO many people to play with the baby, my husband and I got to go out on the jetskis and have time with our friends.

After the baby went down in the evenings, we would eat and play games.

FOOD:

Food options are endless at the lake. I indulged, but still tried to be mindful of what I was eating.

FITNESS:

I took advantage of the endless babysitters to workout each day. The area surrounding the lake has hills to run, which I did often. I loved the time for myself.

I also did pure barre videos, and lifted weights that my brother-in-law’s brought.

OVERALL:

I definitely stressed way more than I needed to. We had a lot of fun! I was more than ready to be home by the end l though. There is nothing like home, and I love routine.

Weekend Wrap-Up (Food, Fitness, And A Four Month Old)

Hi, all! I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for another week.

Well, as of yesterday, our little one turned 4 moths old. I can’t believe how much she has changed. She rolled over for the first time on Friday and this mamma cheered so much. Haha. She has a strong grip, loves sitting up, screams a lot louder when she wants something, fights naps-but sleeps well at night, and is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me.

We are taking her on her very first vacation in a couple weeks and I am more stressed than anything. Between packing, keeping her cool, and a huge change in routine, I feel like it will be tough. *Sigh*…wish me luck!

Now, let’s jump into our recap:

FRIDAY NIGHT:

After I got the baby to bed, my husband went out and got us Chinese! I love our restaurant by us because they have healthy options. I get steamed chicken and veggies with brown rice and the most amazing sauce ever! We also split wonton soup.

We watched Master Chef while we ate, then went to bed pretty early.

SATURDAY:

Saturday was kind of a blur because my sweet girl was super fussy most of the day. I think her belly hurt.

I managed to slip out to the gym for an upper body lifting workout (all with dumbbells). It was nice to get out and have my husband take over for a little with the baby.

When I got home, we played and hung out. Baby K fell asleep on daddy for an hour giving me time to clean! Yay!!

When she woke up, we went on a family walk and she loved it! I have an outdoor loving baby.

I got her to sleep when we got back (although she fought it like crazy), then my husband grilled out.

After dinner, my sister-in-law and I watched a movie (she is living here for the summer), while my husband worked on his racecar.

SUNDAY:

I woke up early, had coffee, and went out for a 3 mile run. The weather was cool and it felt so good.

Afterwards, two of my closest friends and I went to church (with baby K, too)! Baby did so well. She was amazing all day!! Yay!

After church, we ran to Whole Foods and picked up brunch items to cook.

We cooked, ate, talked and hung out at my house.

It was so much fun to catch up with them.

After brunch, I did a grocery run, then came back and played with baby K until it was her bath time. She went down early because she was so tired, but slept so well!

We ate dinner and watched a little tv, but I layed in bed early to read and fell asleep.

Our Weekend (Food, Fitness, And Easter)

Well hey there, everyone! I am currently rocking my little one (who fights naps these days). How was your weekend? We had fun celebrating baby K’s first Easter with my husband’s family.

We were supposed to celebrate on Saturday with my family, but my sweet niece was hospitalized with RSV. We are praying that she is on the mend, but it was rough for a while. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Now….onto the weekend…

FRIDAY:

I was able to get in a HIIT workout while baby sat in her swing and watched me.

Dinner was buffalo ranch chicken sandwiches and broccoli with cheese.

SATURDAY:

The day started with coffee and family time before I headed to the gym for a strength class.

My workout felt great.

The rest of the day, my husband organized and I entertained baby.

Once I got her to bed we ordered Chinese and watched a movie.

We both dozed off because parent life is exhausting (but so wonderful).

SUNDAY:

We had a rough morning. Baby slept poorly and we had to get us all ready to head to my husband’s home town. The baby cried a lot and we had a rough time getting out the door, but the rest of the day went so well.

We met his parents for church, then had lunch at their house.

After lunch, we played with the dogs.

We then made our rounds to all the aunts and uncles houses to meet the baby! We headed home early evening. Baby K was exhausted and slept so well! So did her mamma!

It was a lovely Easter!

Now I’m off to try to get the little one down for a nap. Have a great week!

Fit Friday-Mom Edition 2

Happy Friday, all! I hope the week treated you well. I’m recovering from a cold, but am finally on the mend. The little one slept through the night for the first time ever last night and this mamma was SO happy!!

Ahhhh my sweet girl.

Trying to stay fit and healthy as a new mamma isn’t easy. Between breastfeeding hunger and lack of sleep it isn’t always easy staying motivated, but I sure am doing my best.

My mom has been super helpful this week! She has helped take care of miss K while I get out and go to the gym or grocery shop.

WORKOUTS THIS WEEK:

I took my first PP spin class this week and felt amazing!

My mom and I also took my little on a long stroller walk. She slept most of the time, but I snapped this the few seconds she had her eyes open lol!

Today, I did the treadmill, stair climber, and elliptical (totaling 30 minutes).

I also did a baby wearing workout and a barre workout at home.

FOOD THIS WEEK:

Stir fry over brown rice.

Panera!

Tons of salads….

Peanut butter and banana protein shake.

That’s just a few of the many things I eat!

Tasty Eats, Fitness, A Baby Update, And My Birthday Weekend

Hi there, everyone!! I hope the week treated you well. Do you have any fun weekend plans? My 30th birthday is tomorrow and my husband and I are going out for wine, followed by a cooking class that is themed “Springtime in Paris.” I am SO excited! I am also getting my hair done. Yay!

Life with baby has been great (but exhausting), as she is more aware and taking in her surroundings. Sleep is a tad better, but still a work in progress.

I adore her, and love watching her grow and change daily.

My baby girl and mom….♡♡♡ We love when grammy visits!

The past couple of days the baby has been under the weather, which worried me so much. I talked to the pediatrician, and I am doing everything they want me to do to get her better. Today was a better day, and she is on the mend. Now I am feeling a bit cruddy…ugh.

As far as fitness goes this week, I went out for a run, took baby on some stroller walks, did a few barre workouts, and cardio on the elliptical.

What I’ve been eating…

Chicken parmesan sandwiches.

Vegetable pasta and a salad.

My favorite salad ever from Northstar Cafe. Yum!

Chicken, potatoes, and asparagus.

Plus tons of snacks throughout the day because breastfeeding….lol!
