Workout Wednesday- Kettlebells and Stairs

Hello, all! I hope everyone is doing well. Life is good around here. It has been so nice being able to see some friends and catch up!

Anyway, I officially cancelled my gym membership. As much as I love it, this pandemic showed me that I can get good workouts done at home, and save a ton of money. Since K was born, I only went a couple days a week, and the cost wasn’t justified at that point. I am so happy with my decision.

That said, I am going to share my favorite workout from the week.

I used 10 pound kettlebells and the stairs from my deck.

THE WORKOUT:

5 min warmup (I did the elliptical)

Circuit 1:

*Stair hops

*12 squats

*12 arm curls

*12 upright rows

Repeat 3 times

Circuit 2:

*Stair hops

*12 lunges + 12 lunge pulses each side

*12 deadlifts

*12 overhead triceps

Repeat 3 times

Circuit 3

*Stair hops

*12 push ups

*12 booty pulses each leg

*12 squat pulses

Repeat 3 times

I also jogged around the house in between rounds!

Our Family And Food-Filled Memorial Day Weekend

Hello, all! I hope you are well, and had a nice (long) weekend. K has been walking all over, and rarely sits still! She will get into anything that she has access to, and keeps us on our toes! She has a big, wonderful personality, and I am soaking up her being little.

This past weekend was so nice, as we enjoyed awesome weather, and lots of family time.

FRIDAY:

My mom came over for the day, which was so nice! We got lunch at a delicious vegan restaurant called Portia’s Cafe. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I had a wrap with tons of veggies and hummus, and the most delicious, healthy, strawberry cheesecake I have ever had!!

A little later in the day, I had a delivery come to the door. The cutest edible arrangement! Such a fun surprise! The fruit was so fresh and yummy. K and I ate it up quickly!

That evening, my husband and I started watching the show Locke and Key. It is SO good and we have watched a lot over the weekend evenings!!

SATURDAY:

My husband ordered my absolute favorite coffee from the cutest bookstore in North Carolina. I started the day with a cup in my bookstore mug. The smell took me to the beach, and I cannot wait to be there again in October!

After coffee and breakfast, we packed up and headed to the campground that my husband’s family was at.

K enjoyed seeing everyone for the day, and we left at her naptime.

We took a long way home, and stopped to look at some houses while K slept.

We watched more Locke and Key, and ate brats for dinner once K went to bed.

SUNDAY:

The morning was beautiful outside, so we started the day with a long family walk. Spending time with my husband and little girl is the best!!

That afternoon, we got K’s baby pool out and let her play a lot. She had SO much fun, and slept like a champ that night. She had to try a couple different suits on haha.

MONDAY-MEMORIAL DAY:

We took another family walk and it was perfect!!

I went for a jog when K napped, and it started getting SO hot. We hit almost 90 degrees. My mom came for the day, and we took walks, had lunch, and K played in her pool. It was a great day!

Dinner was grilled salmon, veggies, and a salad!

We ended the night with more Locke and Key! We have two episodes left.

Workout Wednesday, Mother’s Day, And A Baby Update

Hello, all! I hope you are well. Today is looking to be a beautiful day, and I am so happy. I love getting outside with K. Speaking of my big girl…

She walked for the first time yesterday! Be still my heart. She thought my cheering my hilarious. My husband got to watch her on Facetime which was fun.

We also had her 15 month checkup yesterday, and she was not happy. It was in the middle of nap, and she was trying to sleep on me until someone messed with her and made her cry. My husband is amazing in these situations, and I missed having him there. They only allow one parent, which is understandable.

On the plus side, she is doing amazing!!

Now, let’s move to MOTHER’S DAY…

We had a great day! K and I were up early and snuggled on the couch a while. My husband got me Starbucks and flowers, and had K color me a picture.

I did yoga, and took a jog by myself. It was much needed.

Our moms came by to social distance and eat the delicious food my hubs made!

We had a long walk and fire outside.

We ended the day with tv and relaxing on the couch!

MY FAVORITE WORKOUT THIS WEEK:

YOGA!!

I still have been doing my harder workouts, but needed something else for my body. My best friend does yoga all the time, and we both did the same livestream class last night.

It was an hour long class. I put on my essential oils and turned down the lights. I was able to completely relax, and enjoy stillness and deep stretching. My body is thanking me for it today. I forgot the amazing things yoga does for my body, and I will absolutely be incorporating it more.

Sunny Day Workouts And A Weekend Update

Hello, all! I am in a swimsuit for the first time this year, enjoying a beautiful, sunny day! I got a high wasted suit last year from Amazon and love it. The rest of the week is supposed to be rainy, so I am enjoying being outside as much as possible.

SATURDAY was sunny and beautiful, too. We spent the day outside watering flowers, taking walks, working out, and waving to neighbors.

My husband did yard work the whole day. He is the best!

The day ended with City BBQ and finshing Outer Banks on Netflix!

SUNDAY was chilly and rainy, so we played inside, and I deep cleaned the house during K’s naps. Dinner was chickpea pasta with meat sauce. After dinner, we watched 17 Again. That is such a cute movie!

As far as WORKOUTS go, I did mine outdoors Saturday and today, while resting on Sunday.

On Saturday, I used bands, kettlebells, and stairs to do a circuit workout. It was fun, and being outside is so motivating!

Today, I did a few full body excercises with the bands, then K and I headed outside for a stroller hill and barre workout. It felt amazing, and the weather was PERFECT!

These nice days are making me so happy, and I am looking forward to steady warm weather.

Food, Fitness, And Friday Favorites

Hello, everyone! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. I sure do miss getting out, just the store, gym class with baby K, wine dates with friends, or a random Starbucks trip. I do feel so lucky to be home with my beautiful baby girl every day. She gets me through, that’s for sure.

Her personality shines, and she is a constant reminder of just how blessed we are.

This week has been pretty chilly, so most days have been spent inside. Today, however, is beautiful! Baby and I took a jog this morning and plan on getting back out after her nap.

Let’s talk favorites this week…

TV:

*Tiger King: we finally jumped on the band wagon and oh my gosh what a crazy show! We binged it in a couple nights after K went to bed.

*Outer Banks: We are loving this show! I have been going to the Outer Banks every year for over 20 years, so that makes it even more fun to watch.

*Nailed It: This show is absolutely hilarious and makes me forget my worries.

FOOD:

Veggie burgers, taco cups, wheat crust pizza, and a basil burrito from Northstar Cafe. YUM!

FITNESS:

Bands, my new kettlebells, elliptical, hiit videos, and stroller jogs!
