Our First Vacation With Baby

Hello, all!! We are finally home and settling back into our routine from vacation. We actually got home Saturday evening, but between unpacking, loads of laundry, cleaning the house, and moving baby to her room, things have been crazy.

We spent a little over a week at the lake with my husband’s family. Here is the recap:

PACKING:

Oh my gosh, packing for baby K was so stressful. Our car was completely full! She needs SO much stuff!! It helped making a list. 3 adults, one child, and a BUNCH of stuff. Yikes!! We made it work though.

THE DRIVE:

Baby K did great overall! Minimal crying/screaming, lots of staring at trees. She barely slept on the way there, but napped more on the way home.

The drive was around 5 hours, and we stopped a few times to feed and change her.

THE CABIN AND SLEEP:

The cabins are small, but we did have our own room. We put the pack and play by our bed, and baby slept in the doc a tot inside of it (which she is now officially out of since we’ve been home).

There is no air conditioning in the cabins, so we used fans. I was super worried about the baby, but we had the fan directly on her at night. She slept amazing the whole week!! Being outside made her tired, and she napped well and slept through each night. Around 6:15pm-6/7 am!

FUN:

Making new family memories was a blast. Taking baby on her first boat ride and seeing her in the lake brought so much joy to our hearts.

With SO many people to play with the baby, my husband and I got to go out on the jetskis and have time with our friends.

After the baby went down in the evenings, we would eat and play games.

FOOD:

Food options are endless at the lake. I indulged, but still tried to be mindful of what I was eating.

FITNESS:

I took advantage of the endless babysitters to workout each day. The area surrounding the lake has hills to run, which I did often. I loved the time for myself.

I also did pure barre videos, and lifted weights that my brother-in-law’s brought.

OVERALL:

I definitely stressed way more than I needed to. We had a lot of fun! I was more than ready to be home by the end l though. There is nothing like home, and I love routine.

Our Chicago Getaway

Hello, everyone! I hope you are having a lovely weekend. We are driving home from our mini vacation to Chicago. It was a blast! It was a perfect way to celebrate Brad’s 30th birthday, our anniversary, and our “babymoon.” Let’s jump right in…

FRIDAY:

We left home around 8am and made the 6 hour drive to Chicago. We arrived at our Airbnb around 2:30 ish, unpacked and settled in.

We changed, called an uber, then headed into the city.

Our first stop was the bean to get some pictures!

It started getting a little dark, so we walked over to the Chicago theater to see it all lit up. It was so pretty!!

The evening was absolutely freezing, so we decided on an early dinner at Giordano’s! We got salads and pizzas. Everything was super yummy!

After dinner, we ubered back to our Airbnb, watched a movie, then crashed hard!

SATURDAY:

I woke up before my husband, so I did a short pregnancy workout video. When he woke up, we walked (in the 19 degree weather) to Starbucks for coffee and breakfast.

After breakfast, we got ready for the day and ubered into the city. We walked around until it was time for our first activity!

At noon, we did the Chicago Theater Tour and it was absolutely fantastic! We loved learning the history and not to mention, I adore the theater!

I was like a kid in a candy store Haha!

After the tour, we stopped at a food truck for lunch and ate in the sunshine. Chicago style hot dogs are no joke! YUM!!!

After lunch, we headed to the field museum. It was huge and there was so much to see! We loved the dinosaur exhibit, and also ancient Egypt.

After the museum, we walked a bunch more and saw the bean at night, along with other cool parts of the city.

Our next stop was the John Hancock building! We did Chicago 360, which takes you super high to see some beautiful views. I’m so glad we went at night! There was a wait for this and I was getting nauseous, but felt better once we got to the top.

Afterwards, we were both wiped out from walking all day so we headed to dinner at Gino’s East. I needed water and to just sit. It felt amazing to relax. I wasn’t in the mood for pizza again so I got minestrone soup and a delicious salad with grilled chicken, candied walnuts, cranberries, radishes, cheese chunks, and their delicious house dressing.

After dinner, we ubered back to the Airbnb and both crashed quickly. My total steps on my Fitbit was almost 25,000 for the day! Crazy!!

SUNDAY:

This morning, we packed up early, grabbed Starbucks, and started the trip home. I can’t wait to see my kitties!!

Our Beach Vacation-Outer Banks, North Carolina

Hello, friends! After a long, crazy drive yesterday, we made it home from North Carolina. Our vacation with my family was so much fun! I am glad to be home with my kitties though. They gave us the best greetings last night!

We had a beautiful week! The weather was gorgeous, and we enjoyed plenty of beach time. Our house was adorable and only a short walk (maybe 2 minutes) to the beach.

Some activites we did included:

And I had a tasty virgin pina colada….

I had some lovely beach runs, did a beach yoga class with my sister in law, and went for a mile swim!

Most of all, I enjoyed the time with my family! I am so blessed.

Now it is back to reality!

Our Vacation-Gun Lake, Michigan

Hello, all! We are officially back from vacation #1 (as of yesterday). Despite a minor setback on the way, aka waiting for AAA for 5 hours, we had a fun time. This vacation was with my husband’s family and we go every year. We get cabins and enjoy a week relaxing at the lake.

First, let’s talk food…

We had Chipotle on the way and ate until we were stuffed.

Our one big night out! We went to a brew pup and I got a turkey pita sandwich with apple chutney. I also had soup and cottage cheese.

When we got home yesterday we picked up Fazolis for dinner. I wanted pasta and bread. I was not disappointed.

We also had some fun on the water! We went jetskiing, boating, and spent a day at “party island” where we played water volleyball and other fun games.

I also managed some workouts! Most days I ran around the lake, which was beautiful! I also did one workout video and took a couple days off. It’s all about balance!

We had a wonderful week, but man is it good to be home!

I missed my kitties so much!! I also missed my bed lol!

Now off to eat dinner (sausage and bean soup + cornbread muffins) and get back to binge watching the Handmaid’s Tale!

Our Nashville Weekend

Hello and happy Easter, everyone!! Typically, I would spend mine at church, followed by family time, but this year is being spent in the car driving home. We did stop for a tasty brunch though!

We had such a great weekend in Nashville, visiting my cousin and exploring the city.

Here’s all we did:

FRIDAY:

We got to Nashville around 3 and got settled into our air bnb. It was a great place! We did a Kroger run, then came home and got ready to meet my cousin for dinner.

We went to dinner at a place called The Tavern, and it was delicious! We all split the buffalo cauliflower as an appetizer, and I had their kale and parmesan salad with salmon as my main meal. YUM!

After dinner, we all went back to the air bnb and played cards until bed.

SATURDAY:

We started the day early with a short treadmill workout at my cousin’s apartment gym.

After the gym, we got lattes and muffins from The Frothy Monkey. It was all so good!!

Next, we all showered at got ready for the day. Our first stop downtown was the Ryman Auditorium. We did the self guided tour and it was awesome.

By the time we finished, we were ready for lunch. We headed over Dierks Bentley’s new restaurant/bar called Whiskey Row and sat on the rooftop. It was a beautiful day! The place was packed.

Lunch was delicious!!! I had a turkey melt and grits (best I’ve ever had)!

After lunch, we went over to the Country Music Hall Of Fame and Museum. I loved it!!! I learned so much.

Our next stop was an adorable little place called Mockingbird. We all had their adult “juice boxes.” They were so cute and tasty!

By this time, we were all pretty tired and hungry again! We ordered pizza from Two Boots to take back to the air bnb. While we waited, we stopped by the huge wings mural for pictures.

We grabbed our pizzas, headed back to eat, drink, watch the final four games, and play more cards.

This pizza was called Earth Mother and it was super yummy!!

I crashed hard that night!

SUNDAY:

We woke up early and grabbed Starbucks and a snack before saying goodbye to my cousin. We packed up and headed out! We stopped for brunch at Cracker Barrel. It was great, as always!

We have about two hours left on our drive and I’m ready to get back to my kitties!!
