Our First Vacation With Baby

Hello, all!! We are finally home and settling back into our routine from vacation. We actually got home Saturday evening, but between unpacking, loads of laundry, cleaning the house, and moving baby to her room, things have been crazy.

We spent a little over a week at the lake with my husband’s family. Here is the recap:

PACKING:

Oh my gosh, packing for baby K was so stressful. Our car was completely full! She needs SO much stuff!! It helped making a list. 3 adults, one child, and a BUNCH of stuff. Yikes!! We made it work though.

THE DRIVE:

Baby K did great overall! Minimal crying/screaming, lots of staring at trees. She barely slept on the way there, but napped more on the way home.

The drive was around 5 hours, and we stopped a few times to feed and change her.

THE CABIN AND SLEEP:

The cabins are small, but we did have our own room. We put the pack and play by our bed, and baby slept in the doc a tot inside of it (which she is now officially out of since we’ve been home).

There is no air conditioning in the cabins, so we used fans. I was super worried about the baby, but we had the fan directly on her at night. She slept amazing the whole week!! Being outside made her tired, and she napped well and slept through each night. Around 6:15pm-6/7 am!

FUN:

Making new family memories was a blast. Taking baby on her first boat ride and seeing her in the lake brought so much joy to our hearts.

With SO many people to play with the baby, my husband and I got to go out on the jetskis and have time with our friends.

After the baby went down in the evenings, we would eat and play games.

FOOD:

Food options are endless at the lake. I indulged, but still tried to be mindful of what I was eating.

FITNESS:

I took advantage of the endless babysitters to workout each day. The area surrounding the lake has hills to run, which I did often. I loved the time for myself.

I also did pure barre videos, and lifted weights that my brother-in-law’s brought.

OVERALL:

I definitely stressed way more than I needed to. We had a lot of fun! I was more than ready to be home by the end l though. There is nothing like home, and I love routine.

Our Long Weekend (Food, Family, And Fitness)

Hello, all! How was your weekend? Ours was nice, as we enjoyed an extra day due to Memorial Day. As of today, I have four days left of work until summer break, and the start of being a stay at home mom. It is crazy to be beginning this journey.

Anyway, onto the recap…

FRIDAY NIGHT:

After getting the baby down for a nap, my husband and I got Chinese takeout and watched Blockers. It was a nice, relaxing evening.

SATURDAY:

I taught a few online classes, then enjoyed coffee and relaxing with the family.

I went to the gym for some cardio (the treadmill and stair climber).

After my workout, I came home and cleaned during the baby’s nap.

When she woke up, we took her little bathtub outside to enjoy the weather and water! It was so fun! She loved looking around and taking in her surroundings.

After a bath, we put baby to bed and grilled burgers. We had peppers and sweet potatoes, too! Yum!!

We rented a movie, but I fell asleep.

SUNDAY:

The day started with coffee as always!

I did a 3 mile jog before our visitors came. My sister in law stopped by and played with the baby, then later, my mom and cousin came over. We took a walk and it was so nice!

When everyone left, we put the baby down for bed, but she fought it like crazy and did not sleep well! Once she finally went down, I had a Whole Foods salad and toast for dinner.

I watched Big Little Lies before bed.

MONDAY:

I started the day early with coffee and more Big Little Lies before the family woke up.

I did a short baby wearing workout, then played with the baby. I did a grocery run, then cleaned while baby K and my husband napped.

After naptime, we took a family walk to the park.

By the time we got back it was close to the little one’s bedtime, so we gave her a bath before putting her down.

I took a shower while my husband grilled us dinner.

We ate and watched the Bachelorette before bed.

Food, Fitness, And A Mom/Baby Update

Hello and happy Saturday, all! I am currently snuggling my little one as she naps on me. I’m not sure how I got so lucky, but I thank God every day for this precious girl of ours.

Well, I officially only have one more week of work until I am home with baby K. I can’t wait! She is growing SO fast. She constantly makes adorable sounds, smiles and laughs. Her grip is getting so strong and she holds onto toys.

She seems to have finally grown out of the colicky phase (hallelujah), although the 4 month sleep regression is beginning, which is tough.

I adore being her mommy so much.

As far as myself, I am doing well! Teaching online before work, working, working out, and being a mommy and wife can be tough at times, but I’m managing as best as I can.

This past week in fitness included spinning, a barre video, a gluteus maxout class, and some walks with the baby!

Working out is my outlet, and it is so nice to get a little time for myself when I’m there

As far as food for the week goes, we have eaten well.

Burgers, sweet potatoes, and veggies.

A crustless pizza bake!

Ribs…yum!

Whole foods salad bar.

Spaghetti and toast.

I have been extra hungry because baby is eating more and my milk supply is trying to keep up!

A Fit Mamma Update

Hello, all!! I am currently nursing my little one and (hopefully) getting her down for a nap. Being back at work has been nice, but days with my sweetie are so precious to me. I can’t believe it is almost summer, and I will officially begin my journey as a stay at home mamma.

Anyway, the past week was absolutely exhausting. Teaching online, working full time, working out, taking care of the little one, and attempting to clean my house took its toll on me. Luckily, last night I got some extra sleep! Yay!! I started the morning with Starbucks and a family walk, too, which was perfect.

As far as food goes, we have been eating well!

Clearly I love my loaded salads lol!

Saturday night Chipotle, yum!

Despite being tired, I still get my workouts in!

The past week I did spinning, a gluteus maxout class, the elliptical, the treadmill, stairclimber, and lots of walks with baby K!

I am still navigating motherhood, but loving every minute with my sweet girl.

Now….let’s hope I can get the rest of my housework done before another work week begins!

Diary Of An Exhausted, Blessed Mamma, And This Week In Food And Fitness

Hi, all!

This week has really tested me. Just when I thought I was on the mend from whatever illness that had creeped up on me, Monday proved otherwise. I felt bad all day, and my 2 month old has been extremely demanding lately. Usually, I’m able to keep up with her, but with not feeling well I was struggling. Monday evening was the worst of it, but I felt bad all the way through Thursday.

There were times I wanted to cry because she needed my attention, and I needed sleep.

Yes, her face is covered in milk. I cleaned her right after this haha.

Mom life doesn’t stop just because you aren’t 100 percent.

I powered through the week, and woke up today feeling SO much better. I have had so much fun playing with my busy baby today.

I guess this is just a reminder to myself that even when the days are long, that sweet face smiles at you and it makes everything worth it.

As for a food a food and fitness update…

I felt good enough for normal food and some excercise by Wednesday. My mom watched the baby while I went to a barbell strength class and picked up lunch at Northstar Cafe.

My wonderful mom visits each Wednesday to hang out with us and lets me sneak off to the gym. She is moving here this summer and I can’t wait!!

The only other workouts this week have been the elliptical and bike. I’m hoping baby has a decent nap today so I can do a hiit workout.

Last night, the hubs and I had a frozen garlic chicken and pasta meal. Baby was bathed and in bed by 8. I am loving this bedtime. She has slept so well lately and I am praying it continues.
