Our Vacation-Gun Lake, Michigan

Hello, all! We are officially back from vacation #1 (as of yesterday). Despite a minor setback on the way, aka waiting for AAA for 5 hours, we had a fun time. This vacation was with my husband’s family and we go every year. We get cabins and enjoy a week relaxing at the lake.

First, let’s talk food…

We had Chipotle on the way and ate until we were stuffed.

Some food we ate at the lake….

My random eggs, olives, and corn…haha

Yogurt, almond butter and granola while watching the husband fish.

Our one big night out! We went to a brew pup and I got a turkey pita sandwich with apple chutney. I also had soup and cottage cheese.

When we got home yesterday we picked up Fazolis for dinner. I wanted pasta and bread. I was not disappointed.

Next up, some of the lake games we played…

Yard pong!

The voting game…

Bad People (the dirty version of the voting game). I thought mine were so funny!

We also had some fun on the water! We went jetskiing, boating, and spent a day at “party island” where we played water volleyball and other fun games.

Pictures from our evening out…

I also managed some workouts! Most days I ran around the lake, which was beautiful! I also did one workout video and took a couple days off. It’s all about balance!

We had a wonderful week, but man is it good to be home!

I missed my kitties so much!! I also missed my bed lol!

Now off to eat dinner (sausage and bean soup + cornbread muffins) and get back to binge watching the Handmaid’s Tale!

Sorry for the picture overload!

I hope you all have a great week!

Our Hocking Hills Getaway Weekend

Hello, everyone! How has your weekend been?! Ours has been amazing! We stayed at a cabin in the beautiful Hocking Hills (in Ohio). If you ever get the chance to visit, I highly recommend it. It is full of gorgeous cabins and amazing hiking. Not to mention an adorable winery. Here is my recap of our trip!

After work, my husband and I packed up, then hit Kroger for food and firewood. We had about an hour drive to get to our place. The cabin was absolutely perfect! It was so cozy and had a fire place, hot tub, grill, and beautiful views!

The first thing we did was unpack and look around. Soon after, I made a drink and sat in the hot tub while my husband cooked dinner.

Grilled chicken, sauteed mushrooms and onions, and a salad kit! Yum!!

After dinner, we sat in the hot tub until we were tired and went to bed.

I woke up and made a pot of coffee and waffles for breakfast.

After breakfast, we enjoyed the stunning views from the back deck.

We played board games in front of the fire for a while and had so much fun.

I was on a losing streak all weekend haha.

I went for a 20 minute run before having a quick lunch in the cabin.

After lunch, we set off to go hiking! We went on two different trails. Our weather was nice and sunny. The trails were full of beautiful ice formations.

Once we finished our hikes, we came back to the cabin and made a snowman. Cute, right?!

When we were finished outside, we had some snacks and watched a movie by the fire.

Meat and cheese plate, plus smores! Yum!!!! Hiking made us super hungry.

I like my marshmallows burnt haha!! The other one had a banana on it. So good!

Once our movie finished, we had some drinks and made dinner! Salmon, shrimp, and rice!

After dinner, we sat in the hot tub until we were too hot. Then we played more board games until bed. What a fun day!!

I woke up early and made a pot of coffee and read until my husband woke up. We sat in the hot tub one last time!

We cleaned the cabin before heading home.

Now we are relaxing with our kitties! I missed them. I need to go to the store, but that can wait a little longer!

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day!

Weekend Wrap-up (food, family, fire, and fitness)

Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope you all have had a great weekend. I sure have, well, minus waking up in bad pain this morning  (I’ll get there).

I started the morning with an instant oatmeal. I added trail mix, cocoa nibs, and a few graham crackers to it which made it extra tasty!

Perfect for a chilly morning.

After breakfast, I went outside for a run. The weather was perfect! Brisk, but not cold.

Mid-day my husband and I picked my nephew up and he came over for the night. We had a blast!

We went to see IT. We all enjoyed it a lot! I love scary movies, and this did not disappoint!! After the movie we went to Dave and Busters for some games.

So. Much. Fun.

By the time we got home we were starving! We grilled out and watched football. During half time we made a fire and had s’mores.

I made a healthier s’more by using fat free honey graham crackers, 85 percent dark chocolate, almond butter, and 1/4 a banana over the fire instead of marshmallows.

For the bananas, I wrapped them in foil and put them over the fire until heated.

By the time the game was over, I was exhausted. I slept hard!

I woke up with terrible back pain and I barely made it to the couch. I woke my hubsand up and I was in tears. He helped me get settled before getting me Starbucks and pumpkin spice english muffins! It was so sweet of him! He also filled my car with gas. I could brag on him all day.

The rest of the morning was spent heating and icing my back. I’m feeling better, but it still hurts.

For lunch, I made a protein smoothie and had healthy cheesecake dip with strawberries and graham crackers.

I really need to get to the store soon, but I am going to rest until my back feels better!

Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Lake Games

Hi there, everyone!! I hope your weekend has been great! It has been pretty windy at the lake, but still nice. One of my favorite things about being here is putting down the technology for a while and playing games. Games, boating, tubing, and sunbathing are what our days typically consist of when we are here. The evenings are cards and other drinking games.

Before I tell you about the games, I just have to share a picture of me and my husband! Yes, we are in matching bro tanks.

Now, onto the games!

YARD PONG: Played like beer pong, but with buckets.

HILBILLY GOLF OR “TESTICLE TOSS:” This game is hilarious. Teammates stand on opposite sides and try to make their balls land on the stand. Red is 3 points, yellow is 2, and blue is 1. First one to 21 wins.

CORNHOLE: A midwest favorite! The goal is to throw a beanbag into the hole on the board. Landing on the board gets you points as well, just less. We love this game!!

DRINKING GAMES: The one below is Kings. We play a ton of card games in the evenings.

There you have it! There are definitely more, but I just picked a few to share.

What are some of your favorite games to play?! Please let me know!

Have a wonderful day!

With love,
