An Apple Picking Date, Market Finds, And A Moment Of Clarity

Hi there and happy Sunday! I hope you all have had great weekend so far. My car has been acting up so my hubs is working on it while I write.

Yesterday, my husband and I went on our annual apple picking date to Lynd Fruit Farm. We always have so much fun walking through and tasting the apples. We buy a large bag to fill so we have plenty to eat and more to bake with.

I love eating the apples straight off of the trees.

After picking our apples, we headed over to the farm’s market for some goodies!

We left with apple butter, sweet and fresh pickles, chili mix, apple cider, pie, and sweet potatoes. Everything at the market is DELICIOUS! We also bought a pumpkin to carve this week.

Once we got back to our place from the market, we decided to make a Kroger run so we could cook and finish our date night at home.

For dinner, we made chili with the mix we got at the market and cornbread muffins. We also made a warm spiked cider with apple cider, vanilla vodka, cinnamon and brown sugar. We put the ingredients in our crockpot until warm.

Dinner was fantastic!

After dinner, I made an apple bread with some of the fresh apples we picked. I found a recipe on Pinterest that was healthy, and it turned out amazing!! I had it for breakfast and topped it with apple butter. A perfect fall breakfast alongside a nice cup of coffee.

Once I finished breakfast and some cleaning, my friend came over and we drove to church together. The service spoke to me in a way I needed badly this morning. I had such a sense of clarity by the time the pastor finished.

I have had a lot going on in my life lately, but I feel prepared to make myself better, and to work hard to make my dreams a reality. More on that later! Just please send positive vibes my way!!

The rest of my day will be filled with hanging out at the shop while my husbad works. He seriously is the best. I’m a lucky gal!

I hope you guys have a wonderful rest of your day and a positive week ahead!

With love,

Carly

Sandy Runs, Beach Food, And Fun Things We Did: Outer Banks, NC

Hello, everyone! We are home from vacation and I am excited to give a recap of our trip. Between the amazing food, family time, and activities we did, we had a great time! I am happy to be home though, especially after delayed and nearly cancelled flights yesterday.

Every year since I was little my family has gone to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It is a wonderful place and I love being there. I always call it my happy place.

MONDAY:

We had an early flight and got to our beach house early afternoon. There was a huge storm that morning and water spouts (tornadoes on the water) were popping up all over.

How crazy is that?!

Once the weather broke, we went to the beach. After some beach time, we went to the best happy hour you will ever find. Hurricane Moes has specials on shrimp, wings, and tacos. We stuffed ourselves!

After dinner, we went to Outer Banks Brewing Company and played cornhole before heading home to get some sleep.

TUESDAY:

After a beach run, we all got ready and took a fishing trip on the Crystal Dawn. It was a full day trip, and we had a blast. Everyone in our crew caught a fish or more.

After our trip we were all ready for dinner. We went to a pier restaurant. I had a salad with a huge crabcake on top!

YUM!

WEDNESDAY:

The day started with a beach run! I love running next to the ocean and working myself through the sand. We spent most of the day playing in the water and laying out. After we were “beached out” we decided to make a huge seafood dinner at the house and oh my gosh it was amazing!

My husband made this. It is shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn, old bay, and a ton of other seasonings. You pre boil the corn and potatoes, then wrap everything in foil and bake it. Everyone loved this meal, let me tell you!

After dinner, my husband and I took some sunset photos followed by some night time “ghost crabbing” with the family. It was so much fun and full of laughter.

THURSDAY:

We started the morning with a 5k race on the beach. It was a beautiful morning, and the race was a blast!

After the race and getting cleaned up, my husband and I took a day date to the Currituck lighthouse and climbed to the top. The view was stunning and the climb was full of history. I love learning about the Outer Banks.

After our date, we met the whole crew for dinner at Rundown Cafe. This is a favorite of ours! My brother gets the fish burrito every time and it is huge and super fresh. I got the gamefish salad. The fish was mahi and it was perfect.

FRIDAY:

I started my morning with another beach run. It was my last one of the trip! My husband and I got some beach time in before packing up to head to the airport.

After packing, we stopped for a quick bite at a local place called Food Dudes for lunch. The food was awesome and it was a perfect way to end our trip.

Fish tacos and coconut rice with fresh pico!

We had a great vacation! Our flights home were pretty awful. After tons of delays, almost missed/cancelled flights, we made it home at 2:30 am. I am glad to be home. Now it is back to reality! Hope you guys enjoyed my recap!

Have you been to the OBX? What are some of your suggestions? I’d love to know!

Have a great day!

Weekend Vibes And Fun Finds

Good morning, everyone! How is your weekend going!? I’m slightly antsy because we leave for vacation tomorrow. Our flight is at 5:30 am. I will definitely need coffee! I have a decent sized to-do list today! I will start that soon, but first, coffee and blogging.

Yesterday started with an early morning spin class. It felt great to sweat. The energy in the room was amazing and super motivating.

After my workout, I met a girlfriend for Starbucks and Ikea. Have you ever navigated your way through an Ikea!? It is like a maze, but I seriously wanted everything! I left with this find:

A perfect little table and chairs for our deck! Less than $60 for the whole set. My husband and I enjoyed coffee at it this morning.

After Ikea, I called my husband to meet me for lunch. He worked all day and needed a break. We met at a local spot and one of my favorite  food finds ever! The place is called Oak Hill Barbeque and the food is melt in your mouth amazing. The owner calls himself “fat man” and engages with the customers constantly! We LOVE this place.

The inside.

Our meals. I had chicken wings, corn bread, and smoked cabbage. My husband had ribs, cole slaw, and cornbread. We both had leftovers! AMAZING!

After lunch, I went home and cleaned! Later in the evening, I had leftovers (along with a sweet potato and an english muffin), and watched The Break Up while hanging with my cats. Crazy night, I know!

Aren’t they adorable?!

Well, I guess I should get busy with my day! Hope you all have a fabulous one. I will update from the beach!

With love,

Carly
