Fit Friday And Other Favorites-Home Edition

Hi, all!! Pretty much everything is closed around here, so the baby and I are bound to the house. The weather is beautiful today, so we have been able to get outside some. That has been SO helpful. Every time I get sad, I just look at what I have, and remind myself just how blessed I am.

On that note, let’s talk some favorites from the week!

FOOD:

Whole grain crust pizza and carrot fries. This was absolutely delicious!!

Chipotle by the fireplace.

Hash with ham, sweet potatoes peppers, onions, and lots of seasoning! Yum!

FITNESS:

Since I have to workout soley at home, I have been trying to mix things up. I have been able to get out for two runs with the baby and it felt amazing.

I have also done hiit videos, barre, and the elliptical!

FAMILY AND FACETIME:

I can’t get over how much my little girl brings me life. She makes this whole situation easier for me because she is so happy and wonderful! She had so much fun driving her car around this morning.

My husband is beyond amazing, too! He is always a voice of reason and calmness.

Facetime has been so important for us! The baby and I facetime my mom and mother-in-law just about every day!

My birthday is Monday and since my mom can’t visit, at least we get to talk all the time!

OTHERS:

*Even though we can’t get too close to people, it is so nice to see our neighbors outside. Smiles and waves are good for the soul.

*My favorite snack lately: Perfect Bar. These are SO good and filling!

*Book: I randomly stumbled upon a book called Regretting You while searching for another one. It has been so captivating and I have been staying up way to late to read it! Haha.

This weekend, I hope to do a little home celebrating with my little family since I am turning 31!

Have a blessed weekend!

With love,

Carly

Let’s Have A Coffee Date

Hello, everyone!! I have been away from here for a while, so it’s time to grab a coffee, and give out an update from when I last posted.

1) SICKNESS:

After my sweet baby started getting better, this mamma got pretty sick. I typically try to stay away from too much medication, but Theraflu tea was my best friend for a while.

I also picked up Fire Cider, diffused essential oils, and used Zicam nasal swabs. I love homeopathic remedies!

I am finally 100 percent better!

2) BABY:

She is completely off of her antibiotics, and is completely back to being my silly, happy baby! We are excited to head back to Bugs class this upcoming week.

She turned 11 months, and we just sent out invitations for her first birthday party. Ahhh time is flying!

This cutie has a 3rd tooth popping in, and it is bugging her like crazy. She tries to eat mom and dad, books, and sometimes the cats haha.

3) WORKOUTS:

I got a few good workouts in on the days I felt okay!

This picture is from an upper body workout class that I love! It hits each upper body part with cardio drills in between.

Ringside is another favorite of mine. It is boxing, lifing, and cardio all in one.

At home, I did some HIIT workouts, the elliptical, and barre videos.

FOOD:

We’ve been eating very well lately!

Here are just a few favorites…

Chipotle….it never disappoints.

My husband made us steak the other night. With mine, I had a sweet potato and a salad.

Salmon, rice, and vegetables.

FAMILY:

*My mother-in-law and sister-in-law came over on Monday for the Bachelor premiere! I love the show, and it has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.

*January 7th marked 8 years since my dad passed away. I miss him so very much. He was seriously the best, and I wish every day that he could be here and get to see me as a mom.

This has always been a favorite picture of my parents. Aren’t they adorable?

*January 9th was my mom’s birthday, and I was able to spend it with her! We had planned on going and doing something fun, but unfortunately I was too sick. Baby K loved having grandma over.

We ended up getting carry out for dinner and hanging out at my house.

OTHER:

I got my haircut today! I went a little shorter and absolutely love it.

Well friends, that’s about all I have for today. I hope you all have an excellent week ahead, and I can’t wait to catch up on your lives!

With love,

Carly

Weekend Wrap-Up (Food, Fitness, And Surviving Daylight Savings Time With A Baby)

Hi, all! I hope your weekend has been wonderful. I didn’t get as much cleaning done as I would have liked, but I hope to finish tomorrow.

Anyway, I was semi-dreading daylight savings time. Messing with baby K’s sleep schedule really had me worried, but the method I used worked so well! I started pushing her typical schedule back by 15 minutes a few days ago, then 30 the next day, and so on until today to get her body used to the time change. She literally did perfect today, and her naps and bedtime stayed the same times as they were before the time change. She has an early bedtime, and it seemed strange to put her down when it was so dark out!

She was such a happy baby today!

My schedule-oriented heart is happy now….well, until the holidays.

Now, onto the rest of the weekend…

SATURDAY:

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law had stayed with us Friday night, and they left fairly early for a volleyball tournament near our house. Once they left, I had coffee and hung with the family.

I headed to the gym after getting the baby down for her morning nap. I took an upper body workout class and it was awesome!

Once the baby was up, we all got ready to go watch my sister-in-law play volleyball. She did awesome and was excited we were there.

Her look for the day!

We got the baby down for her afternoon nap when we got home. When she woke up, we headed to my work bestie’s house so that my husband could work on her car. I love seeing her!

We left when the baby got sleepy, and got her home for bed.

For dinner, we had tacos!

We were both pretty beat and went to bed early.

SUNDAY:

This morning started with coffee and family time! We played with the baby until her morning nap. My husband went to finish my work bestie’s car, and we joined after nap time.

I got my grocery shopping done during baby K’s afternoon nap, then played with her until her bath and bedtime.

Hubs and I had chicken and potatoes for dinner, and now we are relaxing. I have a feeling I am going to fall asleep on the couch because I am wiped out.

That’s about all for this recap. Have a wonderful week!

With love,

Carly

Let’s Have A Mid-Week Coffee Date

Hi, all! Happy hump day!! I am sitting here enjoying a (third) cup of coffee while the little one naps. My breastfeeding/pumping journey has officially ended, and my coffee consumption is back to an all time high.

I wanted to update you all with life lately, and what better way to do that than with coffee? Haha!

Let’s begin…

BABY:

We took baby on our annual apple picking date and had a blast with her.

Comparison to her in my belly to her now!

Baby has been thriving in her bugs class, and stood up by herself (while holding onto the bars) yesterday. My 7 month old is a rockstar!!

She sleeps like a champ, and I am proud of our consistent bedtime routine.

She laughs constantly, and knows when she is being funny. I seriously adore this kid more than anything!

I could continue all day, but let’s move on.

LOVE LIFE:

The beginning baby stage was hard, as my husband and I were exhausted and figuring this parent thing out, but now that things have settled, I love him even more than I did on our wedding day. He is the best dad, husband, and provider I could ever ask for.

He always tells me that I’m beautiful (even when I am covered in vomit). Haha! These two love each other so much. Oh my heart!

We haven’t been out on a date in a while, but we do incorporate date nights at home. These include movies, board games, and cooking dates (we have had a blast with our Blue Apron and Hello Fresh meals).

That being said, our anniversary is coming up in October and we are planning on a fun night out!

UPCOMING VACATION:

We leave in a couple weeks for North Carolina, and I am so excited for the baby to see the ocean for the first time.

I have a slight ping of sadness, as we visit the Outer Banks, and hurricane Dorian hit hard this year.

FITNESS:

Since having the little one, I can’t get to the gym like I used to, so I have to get creative at home.

I love running the baby outside! She gets to look around, and I get cardio and arm work pushing the stroller.

I also take advantage of the tons of YouTube videos (HIIT workouts, pure barre, etc.)

Carrying my little around all day is a workout itself!

OTHER:

Today is my sweet Maverick’s “gottya day.” We have had this little one for 5 years!

Last, but certainly not least, I am reflecting on this day 18 years ago. I was only in the 8th grade, but remember that day vividly. What a reminder to hug our loved ones a little tighter.

That’s about all for this coffee date, friends! Have a wonderful rest of your week!

With love,

Carly

Our First Vacation With Baby

Hello, all!! We are finally home and settling back into our routine from vacation. We actually got home Saturday evening, but between unpacking, loads of laundry, cleaning the house, and moving baby to her room, things have been crazy.

We spent a little over a week at the lake with my husband’s family. Here is the recap:

PACKING:

Oh my gosh, packing for baby K was so stressful. Our car was completely full! She needs SO much stuff!! It helped making a list. 3 adults, one child, and a BUNCH of stuff. Yikes!! We made it work though.

THE DRIVE:

Baby K did great overall! Minimal crying/screaming, lots of staring at trees. She barely slept on the way there, but napped more on the way home.

The drive was around 5 hours, and we stopped a few times to feed and change her.

THE CABIN AND SLEEP:

The cabins are small, but we did have our own room. We put the pack and play by our bed, and baby slept in the doc a tot inside of it (which she is now officially out of since we’ve been home).

There is no air conditioning in the cabins, so we used fans. I was super worried about the baby, but we had the fan directly on her at night. She slept amazing the whole week!! Being outside made her tired, and she napped well and slept through each night. Around 6:15pm-6/7 am!

FUN:

Making new family memories was a blast. Taking baby on her first boat ride and seeing her in the lake brought so much joy to our hearts.

With SO many people to play with the baby, my husband and I got to go out on the jetskis and have time with our friends.

After the baby went down in the evenings, we would eat and play games.

FOOD:

Food options are endless at the lake. I indulged, but still tried to be mindful of what I was eating.

FITNESS:

I took advantage of the endless babysitters to workout each day. The area surrounding the lake has hills to run, which I did often. I loved the time for myself.

I also did pure barre videos, and lifted weights that my brother-in-law’s brought.

OVERALL:

I definitely stressed way more than I needed to. We had a lot of fun! I was more than ready to be home by the end l though. There is nothing like home, and I love routine.

I hope you all enjoyed the update!

I’m going to sit here and continue to cuddle my baby because she is clingy right now haha.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

With love,

Carly
