Let’s Have A Christmas Time Coffee Date

Hello, all! It has been a while since I’ve posted, and with the Christmas season upon us, I thought I’d update you over some coffee (or maybe a peppermint mocha)!

CHRISTMAS FUN:

Last weekend was a busy one for us, but so fun! We had family pictures on Saturday, and they turned out so perfect!

On Sunday, we had baby K’s Christmas party at her gym class. She met Santa, and looked absolutely adorable! She did well, and was mostly interested in Mrs. Claus’ glasses.

The next couple of weeks will be full of more holiday festivities!

On Monday, my little lady turned 10 months old. I just can’t believe how much she has grown! She is the absolute sweetest, and I can’t get over how blessed we are.

FITNESS:

I am still managing to sneak off to the gym a few times a week, which is so nice! Some of my favorite classes this past week were gluteus maxout and spinning! The other days, I utilized YouTube, my elliptical, and the hotel gym (we were there for my husband’s work Christmas party).

FOOD:

I’ve been slacking on food pictures, but these are a couple favorites from the week.

Chickpea pasta with meat sauce.

Sweet potatoes, chicken sausage, and french onion soup seasoning with just a little water to make a sauce. It was so tasty!!

OTHER FUN:

I got to see one of my very best friends, and get out of the house for a bit! We did a wine tasting, and had an absolute blast catching up! I miss working with her so much. I get to see her again this upcoming week, which makes my heart so happy!

We went to Kalahari for my husband’s work Christmas party on Thursday. Kalahari is a hotel/resort that has a huge indoor water park, game room, restaurants, etc. It was my first night away from the baby which was hard, but we had a lot of fun! We did all the rides and enjoyed drinks from the hot tub bar. Plus, it wasn’t crowded at all being a week day! We have been on a weekend before and it was packed.

When we got home the next day, the baby was so excited to see us, and gave me the biggest hug and kiss. Talk about melting my heart!! Gosh, I love that kid.

That’s about all for this update. The baby is finally napping, so I am off to clean. I plan on catching up on all of your posts this evening! I can’t wait to see what everyone has been up to!

Motherhood Diaries (Food, Fitness, And Sick Day Essentials)

Hello, hello! My writing has been pretty sporadic lately, and my goal for the New Year is to be more consistent. Our little one is almost 10 months old, and keeps us on our toes, let me tell you! She has heaps of personality, and always makes me laugh. I mean, just look at that face. I couldn’t be more blessed.

Moving on to sickness….

There were a couple sick family members around us on Thanksgiving, and my poor baby got a nasty cold. Of course, being her mamma, I got it too. We are both much better now, and I wanted to share what I use when we are sick.

BABY SICKNESS ESSENTIALS:

*Nose Frieda-this item is amazing! Kind of gross, but it allows you to get SO much out of your baby’s nose.

*Breathe Frieda Vapor Drops-these are baby friendly essential oils. I use them in her bath and they smell so good!

*Humidifier-I use this during her naps and bedtime. When her cold is really bothering her, I add her vapor drops.

*Zarbees Chest Rub-it is basically Vick’s for babies. I put it on her feet and chest.

MOM SICKNESS ESSENTIALS:

*Apple Cider Vinegar-The health benefits are endless, and it seems to always get me better quicker!

*Saline Nose Rinse-I use this constantly to help clear out my sinuses.

*Zicam Nasal Swabs-These are a go-to when I have a cold!

*Essential Oils-I use eucalyptus, lavender, and lemon in my diffuser.

*Theraflu Tea-For me, this works better than other medicines when I am sick.

Those are just the things that work for myself and my family! I’m no doctor, just a girl who likes to research and find the best ways to keep her family healthy.

Moving on, this past week in FOOD:

Chickpea Pasta with meat sauce! I am loving this pasta so much. It definitely has a different taste, but I enjoy it a lot.

Jalapeno Chicken Sausage and Mixed Vegetables! I added a little soy sauce and lots of seasonings. It was delicious!

Grilled Cheese and Soup for when my sickness was peaked.

FITNESS THIS WEEK:

I was able to get to the gym twice this week. Once for RINGSIDE, which is a boxing inspired full body workout and a second time for SPINNING.

The rest of the week was workouts at home, including pure barre and the elliptical. The days I was sick I took it easy, just did enough to get my body moving a bit.

Food, Fitness, Motherhood, And Thanksgiving

Hello, all! November seemed to fly by, and I cannot believe Christmas will be here so soon. This time has brought some sickness around our household unfortunately, and I currently have a very stuffed up baby. I also have chest congestion, and my husband has a cough. Yikes!

On a happier note, I am finding a lot of great cyber Monday deals! My goal is to finish my Christmas shopping this week.

Now, let’s back-track to last week….

FOOD FAVORITES:

Terriaki chicken with sweet potato fries and veggies.

Chicken over a salad, toast, and my favorite blackberry wine!

We also had stuffed peppers a night!

FITNESS:

I got in some good workouts last week, including 2 outside runs and 3 workout classes at the gym…

1) ringside: a boxing inspired class

2) tabata: a full body circuit workout

3) Spinning

THANKSGIVING:

We hosted this year, and had my husband’s family, and some of my family over. I didn’t get pictures of our delicious spread, but I got some cute ones of my little one.

It was so nice to have our families here!

Food, Fitness, Motherhood, And Balance

Hi, all! I just put the baby down for a nap, and realized that I hadn’t posted in a while. Mom life is wonderful, but oh so busy! Trying to balance time for myself, while taking care of a very active 9 month old can be hard, but I am managing!

Working out has always been an outlet for me, and I try to set aside time each day to do something active. I love getting to the gym and taking classes, and try to get there a few times a week. The other days, I do something at home (YouTube videos, elliptical, barre). My mom comes to my place as often as she can and let’s me sneak out to the gym! This past week I was able to try a new class and loved it. It is called ringside and it is a boxing inspired class. I was sore for days after!

I also went to spinning which is a staple class for me.

I used to workout because I was obsessed with how I looked, but now I do it because it makes me happy.

The same goes for food. I used to worry so much about what I ate, and it consumed me. I now have a healthy relationship with food, and can indulge without guilt, while still eating well most of the time. This past week I had some good meals…

OTHER:

Our weekend was busy, but so nice! On Saturday, we celebrated my niece’s second birthday. Baby K had fun with all of her cousins. Also, how cute are these sesame street cupcakes???

On Sunday, we went to my husband’s hometown to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family!

It was so nice to be with everyone!

This upcoming week will be full of cleaning and getting ready to host Thanksgiving at our house! I have a lot to do, but am so excited to have everyone here.

On that note, I am off to clean.

A Life Update (Motherhood, Sickness, Teething, Food, And Fitness)

Hello, all! I am currently sitting here watching TV, and beyond ready for my husband to be home. He has been gone all weekend at a wedding, and I’m not expecting him home until around 1am. The baby and I stayed home because it would have been way too much travel for her in just a couple days.

Anyway, when I last wrote, I was getting over a terrible stomach bug. Unfortunately, my husband got it, too. He woke me up super early Tuesday morning saying he was up most of the night feeling queasy. He threw up right after that. I felt so bad because he got it from me. He stayed home from work for two days. I cleaned and disinfected like crazy when he felt better. Luckily, the baby didn’t get it!

The baby and I still had some fun though!

She LOVES gym class!! The Little Gym Of Polaris has been a saving grace for me. Baby K is making friends (so am I), developing new skills, and has so much fun every week.

This sweet kid had her 9 month appointment, and took her shots like a champ! She only screamed for a little bit.

Let’s talk teething…

Ugh, it is awful. She has had a couple nights where she struggled to go down because she was screaming. I have found that teething oil (benzocaine free), tylenol (when necessary), and lots of things to chew on help!

Now, onto food…

I didn’t cook much during the week since my husband was sick and I just threw stuff together for myself. We had pasta on Monday (before he got the bug). Mine had chickpea noodles with a meat sauce.

My mom spent yesterday and a good portion of today with me! It was so nice and extremely helpful!! Love you, mom! We had Jersey Mike’s and rented a movie last night!

After getting the baby down, I made a cauliflower crust pizza and salad for tonight’s dinner! Yum!

*Hiit workout video

*Cycle Sculpt class at the gym

*Upper Body Extreme class at the Gym

Well, that’s about all for this update! The rest of my evening will be spent snuggling the cats, watching the baby monitor, enjoying some TV, and waiting on the hubs!
