Life With Baby

Hi, all! Today is technically my due date with baby K. Hard to believe we have had her with us since the 9th. Being a new parent it tough and exhausting, but the love I have for our sweet daughter is unlike anything I have ever felt before.

I have been healing well and am getting around quite well at this point. I haven’t weighed myself, but my body has gone down close to where it was pre-pregnancy. I am proud of how healthy I stayed during pregnancy!

Breastfeeding:

This has had its ups and downs. I love it so much the times baby latches easy and stays on well, but that isn’t always the case. I had bad engorgement for a few days, which was terribly painful. Sometimes she gets frustrated, so I pump and give a bottle when all else fails. I will continue to keep working on it. I love how we bond during feedings!

Food:

I have been eating more than usual to keep my milk supply up! Most of the time it is healthy, other times it is more convenient.

Exercise:

The recommendation is to wait 6 weeks, so I have just been doing some walking and stretching. Listening to my body has been so important for recovery!

Sleep:

Oh how I miss my sleep lol!! Baby keeps us up quite a bit, but I know this won’t last forever! They say to nap when baby does during the day, but I have been using that time to get other things done.

Getting Out:

Since my husband has been off of work, I have gotten out to grab coffee, grocery shop, and even get a hair cut. He goes back to work on Monday and I’m bummed, but I guess it had to happen eventually.

Visitors:

I feel like we have had a lot of visitors, and that has been a little overwhelming. I love having one person over at a time, but when a crowd comes over, it is too much. I need to be better about saying no. I notice my anxiety gets higher with a lot of people and I want to keep the little one healthy.

Cats:

The cats are starting to adjust to their sister, but have been stand off-ish. They both have sniffed her and occasionally get close, but most of the time they keep a little distance. I am hopeful that they will be the best of friends!

Overall:

I am so in love with our sweet girl and am soaking up every second of her being so little. We have her newborn pictures tomorrow and I am so excited!!

Isn’t she perfect??

Thanks for reading my update!

With love,

Carly

  1. Baby K is so sweet!! You are looking amazing considering you only had baby a few weeks ago, go you! I hear breastfeeding can take up a lot of energy, it’s good that she’s been able to latch well sometimes. It’s such a strange skill to try and learn for both you and baby. Sounds like things are going well overall though πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks for the update, Carly!!! It sounds like you are doing so great taking everything in stride! I can imagine having so many people over would be overwhelming- especially on little sleep. Also gonna try to replicate how you ate/worked out during your pregnancy when it’s my turn – you look absolutely amazing. And goes without saying…. but she really is PERFECT. ❀

  3. Gosh she is gorgeous!!! & you are looking amazing, too, Carly. ❀ I'm so happy to hear you're adjusting to life with baby & everything is going so well. So funny about the cats just giving her a little sniff. I bet they'll be best buddies in no time. πŸ™‚

I totally understand about getting anxiety with too much people coming over. I hope the visitors have become less frequent, that you've been healing up quickly & that you've been getting enough rest!!! ❀
