No Gym, No Problem

Hello and good morning!! I am enjoying a cup of coffee with a smile on my face. It must be because I only work for 3 more days, then it is spring break from work! I am thrilled and I’m sure the kids are, too!

This morning, I planned on running at my apartment gym. When I do that, I am able to sleep in a little extra, which is always nice. When I went to get my key to the workout room, it was missing.  I looked everywhere, but failed to find it. This instantly put me in a bad mood (silly I know). Then I thought, wait a second, you have a computer, YouTube, an apartment, and an able body. So I decided to workout from the comfort of my own place! I wanted to share a few ways to make working out at home fun and easy.

  1. Utilize what you have.  *I started by jogging up and down my stairs 5 times, followed by squats and jumping jacks for about 5 minutes. This was a nice little warm up to get my heart rate going. You can also do wall sits, pushups, or any body weight exercises you can think of!
  2. YouTube is your best friend. *I LOVE the amount of workout videos on YouTube. A favorite channel of mine is FitnessBlender. If you have never heard of them you HAVE to check them out. They have so many free at home workout videos, and let me tell you, they are hard. This morning I did the “Spartan 500” workout from them, followed by a short ab video. The Spartan 500 is 10 reps, 10 exercises, 10 times through. It is only 17 minutes, but it is brutal. My heart rate was high the whole time.
  3. Have a reward or something to motivate you to get through your workout. *I struggle working out at home. I mean, my TV and computer are right there, so are my cats who want me to cuddle before work. My reward to myself is a nice cup of coffee. Just knowing it will be there post workout gets me through. It can be anything though!! Just knowing you worked your butt off is sometimes reward enough.
  4. Be proud of yourself. *The fact that you did any sort of workout is awesome! Be proud of yourself and who you are!! This is something I struggle with, but am working towards loving my body, and encouraging everyone to do the same. Any workout is better than no workout!

  1. I agree 100% I do go to the gym but lately my gym has been too pricey and havent found the time anyway …..just by switching diet alone you can make a temendous difference and then I let myself have a weekend reward like pizza or ice cream for eating healthy all week 1
